Yikes, hopefully a compromise is reached soon. I am a fan of DirecTV and prefer it very much over Dish but I probably would not switch back to them if the channels don't come back soon

No point in switching as Viacom will do the same to other cable companies later on down the road.

Oh ok. On a related note some websites had their servers  gone down bc of the storms. The servers were in the DC area but those websites names escape me..I believe photobucket was one of them according to World News Tonight

Wow, the NWS is really me off right now.  I am trying to go the local forecast pages, and all I get is this error message:

Array ( 0 => Could not connect to host server: mysqlread.md.nids.noaa.gov Can't connect to MySQL server on 'mysqlread.md.nids.noaa.gov' (4) )

Frustrating.

I hate it when webpages in an error state display information like that to the public. Just that database name could open it up as a target for hackers to get into the mainframe.

Stupid Story of the Week

We had some strong thunderstorms tonight rolling through Grand Forks, and about 15 miles before they moved into town, our entire floor decided to go out and play rugby. That's when we had multiple reports of CG lightning strikes around town flooding into the NWS office just down the road. It got so bad the University Police were called to attempt to bring everyone off the rugby fields and back indoors. So far no one has returned.

Well, I've come up with some alternatives for careers in the *knock on wood* event I wouldn't be able to go to college for meteorology. I can go into graphical media, SERT (State Emergency Response Team - Florida), or perhaps even join the air force (my last alternative).


I could even go into college for some other form of broadcast media...

Could someone please explain this, someone who knows a good amount of meteorology. Now, we just had pretty decent thunderstorm, not much thunder or lightning, it was mostly a heavy rain shower; it turned it a to be beautiful when it became a sun shower with double rainbows. Anyway, could someone tell me why did the barometric pressure increase during the shower, and then decreased after it ended. Normally, I would think it should decrease because of an updraft. Could a downdraft cause this? Here's the data from the shower:

Are you sure the time data on the barometer was correct? That definitely should be lower during the thunderstorm, primarily in the beginning to middle (if MY barometer is correct, it goes down at the beginning/before).

I am already going into Christmas mode and getting ready for production on the school/church Christmas play, my Christmas videos, eggnog, hot chocolate, and more. How I miss that time of year! I love Christmas.


I remember when I was working on the production for the play, I had played all the TWC Christmas LF's I could find (from the 2006-2008 era, at least) and listened to them for hours on end while I did my work on the iMac.
I spent at least 3 days straight just working on CREDITS for the play. It made it better listening to the music, I probably would have lost my sanity without it.


Why am I on my Christmas kick? I dunno.
