Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion
« on: October 17, 2013, 08:49:25 PM »
I don't think anyone knows yet?  :dunno: However on TWC's community feedback page "Weather All the Time" the smooth Jazz post has I think 16 likes 0 dislikes, and All Instrumental's no vocals 26 likes and 5 dislikes. However the post to bring back 2 minute forecasts has about 28 likes and 1 dislike. So the requests for all instrumental music and possibly smooth jazz and 2 minute forecasts are about tied. This is as of Yesterday around 4pm. So let's see what TWC does. Maybe they ignored the request for smooth jazz because they were busy with the relaunch coming up? So I think we have a lot of a better chance of getting are music back since this is all they really are focusing on right now.

Activism does nothing in today's society. Well, most of the time, anyways.

7:18 PM CT - XL failed to cue. Haven't watched TWC in forever, quite unimpressed by the changes...

Ice Fairies hasnt been used since 2006 and Holiday Dance hasnt been used since 2009

I figured as much. I didn't remember hearing it last year - and didn't pay attention to TWC in 2010. Sad, sad fate TWC is about to take.  :(  Not much to be upset about... if they don't want to listen to their viewer comments, let them take their own path. We planted the seeds, it is their decision on whether or not they'd like to water it.

Hopefully Michael Colone will be back, along with the usual David Arkenstone songs. Did they even have Ice Fairies or Holiday Dance on the playlist last year?

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: September 02, 2012, 07:17:36 PM »
As I've stated before, I am not a huge fan of Bryan Norcross, so when he was on it was hard to watch.

'tis true, he was the only person out of the coverage I managed to watch (which had to accumulate to about 54 hours) that I really was ready to change the channel on. He acted like a total d-bag towards everybody and acted like a big shot, which I guess is why he thought he could cut everyone off while they were talking...

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

I believe TWC did an excellent job on their coverage of Isaac. The sad fact of the matter is they've pulled me back into viewership with the likely-temporary instrumental music and 24/7 coverage schedule. I know this'll probably only last a few more days, but I must say that my biggest excitement from Isaac wasn't the original track towards Panama City, only the fact that (our) old channel returned to its old self for a few days.

When I tune in and see nothing but long-form, I go back to wishing Landmark had never sold it...

I wish the user would lower the price. :/

The STAR 4000 is just a mere paperweight unless you have an uplink via C/Ku band satellite to TWC's analog feed, since it downloads everything through satellite (including the graphics). So be aware of that before you buy the unit and attempt to operate it.

EDIT: I will say, that 4000 is overpriced. A headend could probably buy a refurbished STAR XL or IntelliStar directly from TWC for less than that.

I would have said that one may have been able to get into the Harddrive and download the graphics from it - but the graphics are drawn by the units processors (not base images/animations unlike the XL/IS)

IIRC, didn't he get sued for sexually harassing someone at TWC a few years back?

yep.

I thought so. Thanks for the clarification

Speaking of autographed photographs of TWC meteorologists, either former or current, I do have a photo of Jim Cantore I got from him a years ago, signed by the Can-man himself. I can scan and post the photo here if anyone wishes to see it.

Oh heck yes! I sent in one of those TWC autograph request forms about a year ago and never got one... I guess they did away with that!

Can't scan because my printer/scanner does appear to be working anymore

I have a Canon MX870 printer and scanner, and I get this error message on the LED screen "Error 5012: Turn off power and try again. If problem still persists, check your manual for instructions." I turned it off again and again, nothing. Plus I had long lost my printer's manual. Then I tried looking online for answers and it turns out that I need to replace the flatbed motor on the scanner, which is costly. Does anyone here have a better solution to error #5012 instead of buying an expensive motor for my dead scanner?

New printer

Double post, sorry.

For those interested, I recorded the CBS News Special Report intro when they broke in for the press conference earlier this afternoon. This is the red version of the intro (I have always seen blue).

When the Justice(s) upheld Obamacare, I saw the red version. I think they've used red for HD and blue for SD.

General Discussion / DirecTV: Getting TWC|HD (not subscribed, though)
« on: July 20, 2012, 09:11:46 PM »
I guess DirecTV decided to be generous and give free TWC|HD or it's just a screw up with my receiver - as we aren't subscribed to any HD service. I'm enjoying the HD clarity while it lasts. Anyone else with DirecTV experiencing the same?
