Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: October 13, 2014, 11:25:59 PM »

Hey, at least TWC is doing their job today and not being taken over by paid programming like another channel!

Back to TWC:  Who thought it was a good idea to give TWC the holiday off?  I was NOT happy when I saw the schedule this afternoon on my DISH Guide. Granted Severe Weather stepped in(Thank Goodness! No offense to the people in the storm zone. You shouldn't need bad weather in order to watch TWC.)

NOT happy with TWC and WN today!

Yeah, why were they scheduled to have long form start at 2 PM ET like on weekends? Columbus day is hardly a major holiday.

my tv guide shows reality programming starting at 2pm ET. Will TWC pre–empt long form today?
I wouldn't bet on it.

EDIT: However I just saw one of those commercials advertising "all day and all night" coverage of severe weather.

What's so hard about pre-empting long-form during severe weather? Really, I'd like to know. Is anyone actually interested in seeing the long-form episodes, most of which are reruns?

Here is an interesting article that was posted today:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-10-09/weather-channels-web-mobile-growth-leads-to-advertising-insights

That shows many of TWC's problems IMO. The Clickbait which has nothing to do with weather is really damaging the network's credibility. When I went on weather.com today, it seemed like nearly half of the stories had nothing to do with weather. 50 Amazing World Records? 15 Places to see Animals and their Adorable Babies?  Photos of Terrified Reactions at Haunted House? It's almost like reading Buzzfeed, only this content is much, much worse. And it's all on the website for The *Weather* Channel. AMHQ is full of the fluffy stories too, and most of them are just not very interesting. I often find myself laughing at the quality of the content on that show.  I wonder why the ratings are so poor.    ;)

TWC needs to add more weather segments and less taped reports as well as removing the Pop Culture and Sports Segments.

Actually, I saw on AMHQ's Facebook page that they "said goodbye" to the sports guy, Reese, yesterday. I wonder if this could be the beginning of some restructuring on the show.

I live in the West and I am getting Long-Form Programming

If you're watching in HD, perhaps try the SD channel.

TWC will be live all night with coverage of the potential flooding in the southwest. However, based on what Chris and Kelly just said it sounds like it will be dual feed. So, those of us who don't live in the west will be treated to reruns of "Weather Caught On Camera" and "Fat Guys in the Woods." Thank goodness! I really didn't want to miss that!   :rofl2:

;) I'll look at the archive then make a complation, lol.

I counted six times... in just one seven-minute block of the show! Two of them were in one sentence.

Fun game to play during the 7pm ET hour of Weather Center Live: count the number of times Chris Warren says the words "right now!"

Well this could be interesting. The article says that the TV network could be sold separately from the weather data side of the business. I wonder what this means.

TWC is live all night tonight, mainly because of the midwest severe storms. However, they're also giving other forecasts and tropical updates. It's nice to see them on live during primetime.

Well, that was exceedingly awkward. She's made fun of Keith's clothes before; I remember her scolding him once for wearing a short sleeved shirt. I'm not a fan of her; she often comes off as kind of snotty.

Julie has announced that she's heading to WXIA-TV in Atlanta, where she'll be a weekend meteorologist. She'll be at TWC through September, and "you will still find me here at TWC filling in," she says.
