Any more news on the relaunch?

Not that I can say publicly, but stay tuned.  Relaunch is a strong word.
I thought we were using that word last week when we were discussing this last week in the LF thread. I'm wondering more about the timeframe. Still middle of Oct?

Pretty sure the original mention was always along of the lines of a refresh - i.e. an update of what we have now, now the top to bottom change that brought the current graphics.

I think some of it is already in place - backgrounds are different during when doing a two-shot (instead of solid, they are moving), the occasional map is not the plain one, L3 font was stretched out (and doesn't look all that great, IMO).

In that case, just how noticeable will these changes be?  A blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of thing?

Here is an interesting article that was posted today:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-10-09/weather-channels-web-mobile-growth-leads-to-advertising-insights

That shows many of TWC's problems IMO. The Clickbait which has nothing to do with weather is really damaging the network's credibility. When I went on weather.com today, it seemed like nearly half of the stories had nothing to do with weather. 50 Amazing World Records? 15 Places to see Animals and their Adorable Babies?  Photos of Terrified Reactions at Haunted House? It's almost like reading Buzzfeed, only this content is much, much worse. And it's all on the website for The *Weather* Channel. AMHQ is full of the fluffy stories too, and most of them are just not very interesting. I often find myself laughing at the quality of the content on that show.  I wonder why the ratings are so poor.    ;)

With the severe weather outbreak expected to be underway later today/tonight, live programming will be going on tonight into the overnight.

Probably all day today too. It wouldn't surprise me if they went continuous through at least Tuesday evening, maybe Wednesday since this is a multi-day outbreak. The biggest one of the Fall season so far.

TWC went to long form at 2pm ET.
The only extra live coverage today is on the alternate SD feed for areas effected by storms.

Why can't TWC do the alternate feed on the HD channel for those who have the IS2?

They could also stream the regional storm coverage on Weather.com so those who want live storm coverage can watch that instead of long from shows some of which have nothing to do with weather.

What's so hard about pre-empting long-form during severe weather? Really, I'd like to know. Is anyone actually interested in seeing the long-form episodes, most of which are reruns?

Not me. I keep checking for live storm coverage and since TWC is not showing it nationally I'm not staying on TWC.

That's a shame.  The SD hasn't been on my cable lineup in, what, a year?  They rebroadcast the HD feed in SD resolution, letterboxed in a 4:3 frame, but it's still the HD feed with the IntelliStar 2.  I know other members here have said the same thing is happening where they live.

Besides, who wants to watch the SD channel when HD is available?

Luckily for me, my Charter headend still has the SD feed but still no IS2 on the HD channel. I certainly hope that Charter doesn't start simulcasting the HD feed onto the SD channel before they get the IS2.   :P

That brings up a good point, does TWC realize those who have TV providers where the SD feed is automatically replaced with the HD feed are not getting the regional storm coverage?

Other channels HD such as the MLB Network are able to do an alternate feed regionally so I wonder why TWC does not have that in place?

TWC started national live coverage at 12am ET with Kim and Nick.

TWC  should drop the alternative feed and provide coverage for everyone. DISH and DTV can't get the alternative feed and longform is painful because there's no WATT! TWC should just get rid of longform! I wish DISH would get WN.

my tv guide shows reality programming starting at 2pm ET. Will TWC pre–empt long form today?
