Hi, in addition to this, the traffic segment on the Philadelphia LocalNow feed has been playing what appears to be Pittsburgh's voiceovers over the last few weeks (as they mention roadways like I-79 and 376). If this can be looked into as well...thanks!

Local Forecast / Frank Josephs / Incognito
« on: April 09, 2018, 10:25:25 PM »
I was wondering, what involvement Frank Josephs aka Ray Herrmann had with Incognito? In 1998-99 TWC used Incognito's name in their songs (like She Wears Black), then after that when Steve Hurst took over operations they used the name "CC Gilmore" in place of Incognito which we later learned was a name used by Frank Josephs and Ray Herrmann. I however cannot find any information regarding Frank Josephs on Incognito's profile...still remains a mystery 10+ years later....

On a related note Soul Cafe released albums and their music sounds just like Incognito's, and used the CC Gilmore name.

OK, now I see where a local radar and almanac have been placed over the national obs, national radar, etc, but that is only done if there's some big weather event happening. If there's no active weather, the local city radar and almanac show all the time.
I haven't seen the local radar/almanac at all in months prior to this change. I wonder if that was done in preparation.

Ironically, this announcement comes almost exactly 5 years when TWC replaced the remaining 1:30/2 minute LFs with one minute segments (April 1, 2013).  It's disappointing, but certainly not surprising given the digital age we're in now, as Andy mentioned.

Not sure how related it is to the purchase, but the info is pertinent:

I doubt it as it's been not even two weeks, but if it was talk about fast! :o

Do not be surprised if this leads TWC to go from a cable distribution to a digital subchannel.
Highly doubtful. Also the sale has already been finalized; it's no longer NBC's. I can't see there being a whole lot of changes in the interim, although it's interesting they note they want to incorporate more live programming. We'll have to see.

Curious, is the cutoff year for TWCC 2005 now, seeing the playlists section has been updated? If so I could provide you with my clips from 2002-05... let me know.

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: March 22, 2018, 10:10:41 AM »
Even though I’m in college now 100 miles away, I still like to keep up with what’s going on with the cable system at home and I saw their meeting agenda a couple of days ago included a “Weather Channel Renewal” section and assumed that any renewal of their TWC affiliation agreement would include the forced removal of Weatherscan. This is apparently not the case. The agreement (negotiated through the NCTC) actually extends carriage of both TWC and Weatherscan from the original cut-off date of February 28, 2019 to February 28, 2022. Also, by entering this agreement a year early, allows them to save money on buying the channels wholesale. Seems like my theory is correct in that TWC isn’t forcing anything and they’re just letting cable companies decide when to get rid of it based on viewership numbers, bandwidth concerns, overhead costs, etc. This may change in the future, but it does appear Weatherscan will live in Frankfort for a few more years.
I think in your case in Frankfort, Weatherscan has more decent views due to it being in a lower channel number (19) and being in a lower tier. Most Comcast markets required one of the highest digital packages and had the channel in the 100s or higher; that alone (but also other reasons) didn't draw a lot of viewership.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Minor traffic report error

Hello,

On the Xfinity Cherry Hill IntelliStar2XD, as well as on LocalNow here for that matter, the traffic report for I-676 in PA is mistakenly labeled as a North/South highway, the road is actually signed East/West (although it is N/S across the bridge in NJ).  Can this be addressed to the appropriate department one way or another to prevent possible confusion?
Thank you,
Mike
