Old Weather Channel Pairings?
« on: August 31, 2008, 02:50:04 PM »
Back in the early portions of this decade, in 2000 and 2001, what was the normal programming schedule and OCMs?  I remember some "classic" groups from those days, like Kristina Abernathy and Nick Walker, Cheryl Lemke and Rick Griffin, Jeanetta Jones and Rich Johnson, Dave Schwartz and Lisa Mozer, etc.  However, I know there were more from this time, and, especially in the late evenings, I remember the meteorologist shifts being very random, usually choosing between these meteorologists: Sharon Resultan, Kim Perez, Carl Parker, Dave Schwartz, Warren Madden, and maybe one or two others.  Does anyone remember if there were "scheduled" pairings for the evening or were they random most of the time like I mentioned?

Paul Goodloe and Kim Perez were paired for the evening hours, correct?

As for the later evening hours, it was Dave and Lisa on Monday and Tuesday with Carl and Sharon on Thursday and Friday. In late 2001, they had Paul Emmick and Arch Kennedy working that shift; I'm not sure what it was like before that, though. Paul Emmick handled the overnight hours throughout the entire work week, however.

I think it was weekend evenings I was actually referring to.  I believe it was more random on weekend evenings depending probably on availability of OCMs.

I could be wrong, but I think on weekends it was Dave/Lisa and Carl/Sharon. I'm not 100% sure which pairing did EE and which did EEWC though. In Spring 2002, Carl was moved to weekday evening Weather Center/Evening Edition and Rick Griffin left First Outlook to replace Carl's old shift. About a year after that, in July 2003, Lisa left and a few months later Rick was fired. They were respectively replaced with Sandra Diaz and Mike Bettes. Eventually Dave and Sandra moved from weekends to weeknights, but I'm not sure exactly when that happened, nor do I remember who replaced Dave and Sandra on EE weekend. Someone can fill me in on that.

From videos I have, Dave/Lisa and Carl/Sharon all anchored EE weekend in the same 4-person format as weekday EE at the time before long, that format felt apart on the weekend as Sharon and Rick took over sole anchoring duties of the show; I believe Dave and Lisa/Sandra took over weekday duties at the same time. Back during the aforementioned 2001 period, however, it was Carl and Sharon who anchored EEWC Thursday-Sunday while Dave and Lisa only handled Monday and Tuesday.

Yeah, I figured I had something wrong. :P I have no footage of this time period (other than a few short clips from early 2003) so all of that info was based on my memory.

So Carl (later Rick and Mike) and Sharon did EE and EEWC weekend after the four-person format was phased out?

It was Carl -> Rick -> Warren -> Mike paired with Sharon on weekend EE and EEWC. Warren replaced Rick for about at least 4 months before they hired Mike.
