Also, remember that most, if not all, of the pieces currently used on the local forecast segments include their sonic brand, which means that they were likely custom-made for TWC, and probably do not include any licensing fees or royalties.

I don't even know anymore  :thinking: Maybe all the tweets got to him. The production music was okay at first, but I never expected it to last 3 years.

Likely, Over the past few years or so royalty fees for music have been on a major rise.
The radio station I intern for, has had to increase advertisng by a large amount, to pay for the royalty fees.
The fact that Dave is going out of his way to please us, makes me happy enough...
Do I wish it were on all the time? Yes!
However, I understand a business is a business, and anyway to cut cost is golden to them...
TWC played vocal music during Christmas time so if they really wanted to they can mix jazz up all they want because Jazz artists and vocal artists are covered under either BMI or ASCAP, even production music from libraries.

It will be. That's why I don't get excited about it. It's nice to hear it for a day, but it's not a change for the better if the jazz is played for one day, followed by production music for however long. Of course I love jazz, but I'm so tired of the production music that I would even take vocals back. I know music isn't a big deal, but when you have been watching the network as long as I have, the same song gets really old.
