Anyone notice the little info box sandwiched between the outlook and the discussion? SPC has these for all the outlooks now - should be interesting to see how this works. Looks excellent for media/emergency management.

I think that's a new feature for this year.  It certainly would help those in the emergency management for an idea of risk evaluation.

Spring officially begins on March 20 at 7:02 AM EDT, so we'll leave the Pot Belly Stove on that day and head over to the Front Porch.

My Spring Break started this morning, decided to skip my one Friday class and go home early. I plan to just catch up on work and studying, apply for two research projects this fall, and look for more summer internships.

I think having a Spring Break in March is way too early, more so because of the weather unless you live in FL/Gulf Coast or the Southwest. I'm glad mine isn't until the first week in April. It's guaranteed most of the time to be warm and balmy.

Random comment: Today was very warm and balmy btw. low 70s today, I actually felt a little hot in the thin grey cardigan sweater I wore when I came home from an afternoon class today.

I agree, it'll be snowing/raining this weekend and I don't like it one bit. Temps will only be in the low 40s. I like having it during the first week of April like I did back in HS

Spring break has started for me.  I'm back in Dallas for only a couple of days before heading off to Naples, FL! :D  But man, it sure has felt like spring here for the past couple of days.  82° yesterday and 84° forecasted today.

I was supposed to go to Dallas next week but the airfare was too much. Hoping to go there in May, I love going to Texas this time of the year because of the storm activity.

I think the purpose of having semester break in the 2nd/3rd week of March is because its halfway through the semester for most colleges. I liked having mine the week following easter in high school though despite easter being anywhere from mid March to late April.

Well, now I'm angry at spring. :club:

Last night, Grand Forks reported a low temperature of -14. Not only was this a record low for the date, but it was a full 13 degrees off from the forecast low of -1. Needless to say, someone overlooked something. I'm not going to go off on it anymore, because even I don't know what happened, but seriously. -10s in the second half of March?

Edit: Radiational cooling sucks.

It seems like we're making up for the really warm start to last spring by a significant colder start to this spring.  Of course, the Southwest is the exception as it's always warming up this time of year.  The Northern Hemisphere sea ice coverage is actually almost back to normal after reaching historical lows last fall.  Mother Nature always seems to even things out in the end.

Obviously I will agree. Although it supposed to be a "roller-coaster" March as the meteorologists predicted it would be here, but they lied. We've been staying in the 90 for almost two weeks now.

NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING THOUGH. It's actually nice enough to eat lunch outside.

Am I the only one who's actually enjoying the cooler temps this month?  :dunno:

My Norton subscription expires in a week and I'm debating if it's worth spending the extra $60 to renew it. Has anyone tried Microsoft security essentials? Is it any good especially on Windows 8?
