VDF is an AWOS-3 station, so the NWS cannot fix it in any way :hmm:

Andy and Zach, now you see why there still have to be humans like me to quality control these automated observations for climate reports. ;)  Even the best airport stations have equipment with known issues that can occur.  The present weather sensor on all sites (AWOS and ASOS) can be fooled by dense fog into thinking that it's raining or snowing.  Taking accurate weather observations is a bigger challenge than most people realize.

Yesterday, I saw the most amazing surface vortex, picking up leaves. It began in a field behind a restaurant, pulling in air and leaves. It went across a road, and eventually ended a couple minutes later in a parking lot of a different restaurant. The vortex extended from the surface to probably at least 100 feet.

Oh great! School on election day! Well, we had a whole week off but still, it's election day, they couldn't have chosen anything else? I hope they run out of gas for those buses geesh.  <_<

Just out of curiosity, why would you get Election Day off? It's not a holiday or anything.

We have election day off so teachers have time available to vote. Some teachers here have busy lives and don't have much time to vote. Now since my school district wants to make up days, we now have school on election day. Most public schools around the country have election day off from what I heard.

Actually, the reason school is closed on Election Day is because in most places the schools are used as voting places. Can't have school in session with people coming in and out of the building all day long!

On an unrelated note, hello Victor and Charismatic!!  B)
Please, just call me Pavel. :P

I completely forgot schools were used as polling centers.  Forgive me for my ignorance, guys. I haven't gotten Election Day off since...well, 2008.

I went out and voted early today. I hope those of you who can legally vote will do so!

Hello, Gary "lfmusiclover." I don't think I was registered on the forums back in the day when you were the moderator, but it's nice to see another fan back on the forums.

I still AM a moderator. Just not a very active one! lol  :D

Hi WW! I try my best to get around here once in awhile lol.

Still happening again this morning but its reporting 30.. WTVT actually removed the temperature for KVDF off of their map haha  However it still shows up in their online graphic (which must be a bit older)

I know right?!? It felt like it was only yesterday when I was watching New Year's Eve celebrations on TV. Did this year go by so fast or what?

I feel like I just skipped these past few months. Haha! :P Been travelling a lot and school has kept me busy. I went to Madison, Seattle and Vancouver within a couple weeks. I'm ready for the Thanksgiving break, especially considering how busy the weather has been
