Busy busy day
Because I have such a large area to shovel, I spent the better part of a total of 2 hours shoveling what wasn't even an inch yesterday. I hear ya, lol :P

But wow, check this out. Pellston MI, situated in Emmet County between Petoskey and the Mackinac Bridge, is always the coldest spot in the state. But this is crazy. It has been a while since temperatures like this have shown up anywhere in Michigan. What's funny is, Traverse City, about 50 miles away, is at 0.

Man, I wish I lived up there.  :hmm:

Went out yesterday to visit the local wind farm. If you've never seen one of these wind turbines up close, they're MASSIVE. These two are each nearly 400 feet tall (not sure of the height of the cell tower in the foreground). This picture was taken about three-tenths of a mile away from the turbines. I'm going to try to get some closer shots in the coming weeks.

I've seen a wind farm in WV with a line of 100 wind turbines going across the mountain top.  Each turbine there is about 300 feet tall, and those blades sweep out a 200-foot circle in diameter.  I'd hate to be a maintenance worker who has to climb up to the top of those huge turbines.

I've only seen them from a far distance on mountain tops while driving on the PA turnpike. They seem like they're not too wide from a distance (mainly since it's kinda hard to tell how far you are from them). I figured they were one or two hundred feet tall but not that tall. :o

Wow...400 feet? :o That IS massive. Like Mike, I had no idea they were that big. We used to have some off the highway on the way to the airport here, but I don't see them anymore (I guess we're not a green city).

I've seen thousands of them, and they definitely are HUGE. The thumb actually had a massive wind turbine project a few years ago, and have enough wind turbines to power over 15,000 homes. I believe the entire village of Pigeon and some of Bad Axe are powered by them.

In other news, Saturday was 6 years after our last double digit snowfall... and to the northeast the past couple winters, 10 inches in one storm is peanuts.

Hate to butt in on a conversation like this, but is there a deleted post somewhere between Mike's and yours Jesse? :dunno: I must have missed something today.

To answer the confusion here, we gave a member one last chance to redeem himself the past week after being banned for six months, but the administrative team saw no improvement in terms of posting habits such as long-winded posts about only himself and his life.  Furthermore, he violated an agreement Martin placed with him regarding to not abuse the Tech Support thread.  Thus, we had to reinstate his ban.

Jesse, please ask about stuff like this in private first before posting it as it causes a lot of confusion for other members.  Then, we'll make an announcement about it if needed.  Hope that clears it all up!

Jim in a TurboTax commercial?

On a different note, the Chicago Crapcast headend is finally going digital. On a TV at school that would normally show MSNBC, there was a message saying the TV was not ready for Comcast's "digital enhancement."

Oh, and welcome back, Ana! :)
