I know you can do this for Linksys routers, but in your router's configuration page (if it has one), you may be able to change the frequency that the router operates at.
It has an option to change the channel. Is that the same thing? And we've tried it - it doesn't work. :no:

Hmm. That's very odd why it didn't work. :wacko: Once we get cable in a few days, the modem and the router will be in a different location (away from the cordless phone), so we'll for sure have no more problems with the connection. :D

All routers have an option to change the channel. maybe with an exception of a few.

Question: how do you find out what frequency the router is opperating at?

Go to your router's configuration page by typing your Gateway IP address in your address bar in your browser. Go to the "Wireless" section. There, it should tell you what your current channel/frequency it's operating at, and you will have an option to make changes. It may look/be different depending on your router.

I don't believe you can. Mine's set at 11, too, and I've looked through my router config page and I can't find a way to find the GHz number. :no:

I do have a Linksys router, but its wired. i have a Netgear wireless router hooked to the Linksys,a nd it only syas the channe;/

I guess it kinda helps, but the thing is my cordless phone only says 2.4 GHz, not a number like 2.4xx GHz, so it's kind of hard to figure out which exact frequency that my phone uses.

The cordless phone runs through the entire 2Ghz band. As for those GHz labels on the channels, their pretty much universal. If your router is on channell 11, you can be confident that that is the frequency its on.

Yes, and its not weird. Its normal. Cordless phones run entire spectrums (frequency ranges), not just a single frequency. It can (and does) use any frequency in the 2.4Ghz range.

Well, I guess the only solution would be to move the phone further away from the modem. Which is pointless now since we're switching to Cable in a few days.
