We never get 'em. Period. I don't think we even have an EAS system anymore.
Yes, they do. It's a federal law.

Ya know what's a pain the the rear?

Trying to type on the Wii Keyboard on-screen with a Wiimote.  I just got a Wii, and it's a pain (especially when I had to put in my wireless router passkey....)

Well they are supposed to be for weather warnings, right? In which case I have not seen it for several years.

And civil emergencies, child abductions, etc. But, they are tested either overnight or in the early afternoon on a weekly basis.

I'm having a Youtube problem... this hasn't happened until today. See, in FF, my homepage looks like the attached image, no subscription videos, etc. But, in IE, it looks fine. Anyone know how to diagnose this?

I have not seen it used for any of the above, in several years. Surely there have been such warnings since then.

My YouTube looks fine. Did you try clearing your cache?

BTW Tyler, you need to upgrade your Firefox. You're using Beta 5 of Firefox 3, but RC 2 has been out for about a week. ;)

Then you need to look closer, because its there.

LOL. Really? Because i've seen just about every warning this year (and previous years) and there is no System-Wide EAS in place for that. All of the stations use their own, and many don't even have them at all.

I DO recall seeing a test about a month ago during the afternoon, but I have not seen it used for such emergencies since about 2004.

Then if they have tested it, they have it. So now we have that straight, correct?  :whistling:

Of they don't use it, then that's probably their choice. i don't believe anyhing mandates that a cable company has to use it.

Then what would be the point of even having it, if they're not going to use it for it's intended purpose? :whistling:

I've seen the EAS tests several times, on my TV.  Mostly because I stay up until stupid o'clock in the morning, but I've seen them.  They're there.  And they're watching you.

well, i had a job interview at Freddy's Steakhouse at 3:30 - i decided to go in a little bit earlier, i first was introduced to the Assistant Manager, we talked for 10-15 minutes - he then submitted my application to the GM, she came out 15 minutes later and we talked...they gave me a little background information about freddy's...like where it originated (wichita)...the owner who is 82 and shows up to grand openings of many freddy's, etc.

all in all, the interview was great. the GM was fairly friendly, so where the other employees, and thats the kind of environment i like.

she isn't sure what position she wants me in front or back (front = cashier, cleaning tables, floors, helping customers, etc | back = cooking, unpacking, calling out order numbers, etc) but I'll find out Monday (orientation day, and the day I start)

I'm starting off between $6.50 & $7.00 an hour - working afternoon/evening shifts 4pm-11pm. pay is every 2 weeks, starting thursdays, just so happens that yesterday was the end of their two weeks.

so i'm pretty stoked.
