No no no. Fiber Optics is completely different. It makes cable look like DSL.

I don't think so.I distinctly remember Comcast making a big stink about 5-8 years ago about the fact that they were upgrading their system to fiber optics.

Fiber optics is not new, I'm telling you. It may, however, be a new concept for Verizon (I know for a fact that it is). But its been a standard in the cable industry for, as I said, the last 5-8 years.

No, as far as wiring goes with cable, its standard coaxial. I'm kinda confused as to what
your reffering to.

The only thing that is standard coaxial between the cable company and your house is the cable in your home. All of the wiring outside of your home is fiber optics.

Hmmm...I know for sure its not Fiber Optics here. Maybe in some areas it is. I know that they are slowly upgrading everywhere to fiber optics.

I assure you Gil that your cable company does use fiber optics. Comcast uses it in all of their service areas nationwide.

I don't know where they get this from. Fiber optics have been in use in the cable industry for a number of years now.

Let me put it this way-without fiber optics, digital cable and cable internet would not be possible. standard copper wiring, which was in use before fiber optics came about, does not have the ability to carry the bandwidth required for those services.

Nope. Its only new to Verizon customers, because Verizon has never used fiber optics. With telephone services, you don't need fiber optics.

Now, I'm thinking that the filter may not be the problem (or the only problem). My DSL has been going on and off all night. :censored:
