I don't like the wording of that earthquake statement.  It doesn't sound quite right, especially the word "hit."

I've never felt an earthquake that I was consciously aware of.  I hope it stays that way.

Felt it here in PA. Didn't know what it was at first until a friend called me saying it was an earthquake. Very strange.

Reports in NC that folks felt some shaking there also.

EDIT: Jeff Morrow said reports that buildings were shaking in Downtown Atlanta also. WTH? I didn't feel anything.

Chicago also reported some shaking, seriously the heck kind of earthquake was that?! :P Very strange...

OH GOD, I was just about to post that. All the news outlets are breaking the story in. I was driving and my car (n the road) started shaking. I thought a blew a tire out until I saw a few houses shaking nearby

It's quite remarkable how quickly Hurricane Irene took a back burner to the earthquake on TWC. They even switched to a video feed of MSNBC! Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I found it to be kinda funny. :P

Yes, I can confirm that an earthquake occurred.  That's the first one I've ever felt in my life, and it was a very eerie feeling.  Everyone in my office felt our building shake and eventually settle.  We were then flooded with phone calls a few minutes later from the public.

Considering how widespread this was felt, do all the cities along the East Coast/OH Valley that felt it sit along the same fault line?

No, they're not on the same fault lines.  There are fault lines running along a good portion of the Appalachian Mountains, parts of the East Coast, and also in places within the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys.

Well I was mainly talking about events that have happened this summer (I guess I should have included tornadoes on the list, though.) :P

Anyway, are there any reports of damage in the NE?
