TWC overusing production music
« on: June 22, 2009, 05:06:21 PM »
The use of production music has been happening since late 2005, but ever since late last year, they seem to use nothing but production music on all the shows except for PM Edition and Weather Center. Even the openers don't have the original show music on a lot of the shows. Why are they doing this? It makes their productions really sloppy. None of the other news stations I've seen are anywhere near as worse as this. All the local stations use their own themes as bumper music. So IMO, TWC should really get back to using each show's respected theme music.

I don't understand why they are doing that either :dunno: , it's always so random and annoying at times hearing something different on every show every day.

One theory suggests that the early morning openers are not "serious" enough to NBC... They do rarely show them like once or twice a month, if even that.

If anything, the new openers are less serious.

Since the HD relaunch, the production music are horrible. Cannot stand that new age beat sounding music they used on Evening Edition/Weather Center. I am never a fan of the post-HD relaunch music.

Worst Production Music: Anything from Evening Edition/Weather Center.

I liked the EE music package. I didn't the Abrams & Bettes music, and the current Weather Center music is just a cheap snippet of A&B.

I loved EE, YWT (June 08' and Current), A&B-BTF, and the June 08' WC. The current WC is half-baked and unoriginal.

The actual music they had made for the June 2008 relaunch was decent...but it's been on the decline ever since they killed the 2003-2005 packages. They only had a few great packages since. WC 2005-2008, EE 2005-2008, WC June 2008-March 2009, EE 2008-March 2009.

Agreed. This is one of the main reasons I've stopped watching TWC. The veterans here know that I -- personally -- love the TWC music packages more than anything on TWC. But lately, I cannot stand the lack of continuity with the music packages.

I'm not sure that we're going to see consistent music for a while.  It almost feels like TWC is waiting for a new music package to come along and start everything fresh again.

Yeah, after all that's how it was during the last six months or so of the BWTL era.

That's why I made that remark, Max and Mike.  I seem to recall several eras when the music become more inconsistent towards the end.

Now even PM Edition and Weather Center are using almost all production music. The only time you hear the theme music is during the opener and recorded teasers.

I wonder if they're just going to throw the whole entire library out and start over again
