OCM Had a little accedent?

Hey everybody, I found this quite funny...

I think that the OCM on air at 1:04 AM EST (12/18/08), almost thoew up on air! :hmm: He said excuse me, then made that gagging noise and ran out of the studio. They were forced to switch to a computer to generate the maps and played background music  :blink:

I truely found this wierd!

I already made a topic about this. Im praying someone got it on tape because there was about two whole minutes of Evening Edition music played in his stead.

I hopefully have it too on DVD as long as my recorder holds up...

I don't know if it sounded like he was going to throw up; to me it just sounded like he was having a coughing fit that he couldn't stop. Almost the same thing happened to him back in November on this show, just that time the coughing fits happened closer to the end of the segment, not giving us anywhere near this amount of music.

Awesome, I appreciate both of you guy's hard work. That is truly a very rare occurrence; in fact, the only time I can recall an OCM's coughing leading into music segments was in 2006 when Sarah Libby had a difficult time recovering from a coughing spell and the control room ended up playing nearly the entire 05-08 Weather Center bumper in her stead.

Can't wait to see your clips, post them whenever possible would be fantastic!  B) :happy: :clap: :thrilled:

Is there a video of that, Jae? I'd love to see it if there is...

The other one that really sticks out to me was in 2005 when Hillary Andrews started laryngitis; she couldn't even finish the segment, so they just played the 03-05 WO theme to end the final minute or so of the segment. Honestly, she shouldn't have even gone on the air that day as bad as she sounded.

It's a shame there's no known video of that one out there... :(

I actually have the audio clip, not the video though. IIRC, it was just maps being played over the audio. Clip attatched...

When do you think you will be able to post the Evening Edition fiasco, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm going to check if the disc held up at around 1:15 CT so that I can record it again off the DVR if it failed; I'll hopefully post it shortly thereafter.

Yeah, I'm guessing that Carl had to cough. If he threw up he probably wouldn't have been back on the air. The gagging sound was probably him attempting to hold the cough back, but failing.

And Gary, It does make scence... but I just want to know why they dont take cough reliever before they go on air to prevent this from happening... unless if it was completely unexpected :whistling:
