Wow, I can't believe what I'm seeing.  TWC is showing a movie when the following has occurred or is ongoing:

  • Three people dead and at least 25 injured from an earlier tornado in Arkansas
  • Significant damage reported in Missouri from tornadoes with no idea about deaths or injuries yet
  • SPC upgraded Arkansas to a high risk for severe weather, the highest category possible
  • Numerous tornado warnings are currently in effect for Arkansas, eastern Missouri, and western Illinois

The worst part is that this risk for severe weather isn't over.  Who knows what will happen this weekend?  I'm just as upset as Jim Cantore. :club:  I hope and pray that the local media and the NWS do their jobs, because it seems that TWC doesn't understand the dire need right now.

They are using the dual feed but it seems like a LOT of people are pissed about this. Good reason to be!
You said it! You'd think TWC would learn by now that all this excessive longform and the movie nights are not doing them any favors. With the activity likely to be stepping up in the coming months, they'll have to have all kinds of issues preempting longform and the movies (including Trammell, which we saw earlier), and end up calling back the OCM's anyways.

They also upgraded Arkansas to a PDS Tornado Watch that's enough said right there.

Sure as heck I'm glad we got coverage for our situation to the nation, INCLUDING satellite. But I want them to get national coverage too! Arkansas = largely rural areas. Rural areas = more satellite. Satellite = no dual feed. It's somewhat of a paradox, and that's unfair. :censored:. They're not TWC anymore. They're "The Kinda-Sorta Weather/Weather Movie/Trying to Please Non-Existent Viewers and Said Viewers are Likely Under a Tornado Warning and Don't Know Much About It Because They Have Satellite and They Have to Watch a Movie on a Channel That's Supposed to Be a Weather Channel." Fits them better.

OMG, look at all those tornado warnings!

TWC would cover them, but nope! We have to watch a movie, which is obviously more important than lives. >_>

I've seen the name of the VP of longform programming on the credits from time to time, but I can't place the name at the moment.

LDL-less show on SD (until just a few minutes ago and off again now). And just like last weekend, LDA/LDL on HD covering the bottom.

I'm referring to the directors that deal with what to show and what not (like who decided to show a movie instead of very worthy coverage).

You know, I payed $80 for this hotel I am staying at tonight. I'm with everyone else here, in that this evening still deserves attention. But come on, it has evolved into one massive line essentially. As of 5 minutes ago, there are only 3 tornado warnings to be found. Anyone want to tell me what is wrong with going back to the schedule with LFs?

Yeah I get home hear on the local news of a tornado outbreak tune into the weather channel to see what's going on and there's a movie.  You'd think with a tornado outbreak they'd get more eyeballs(ratings) than a movie.  I know the local news eats tornado outbreaks up for their news ratings.  You'd think channels like the Weather Channel would benefit the same.  Just my two cents.  Love the forum.
