I guess they must think there's no weather going on to talk about.  I just got my eyes full of tonight's TWC schedule on my DirecTV's guide; it's safe to say I won't be tuning in.  No Weather Center Live!  It's supposed to be their flagship segment.  This is not good at all.

What I don't get is why TWC or the OCM's can't say why TWC is not live tonight.
No responses from the OCM's who are usually on and nothing from TWC on Twitter or FB.
We can only hope the ratings are lower then when WCL is on if this is some sort of ratings test when taped programming is on when live programming usually is.

This has to be a ratings test for being on tape when live programming would usually be broadcast.
Nothing else explains why the OCM's won't say why TWC is not live.
Tornado warnings in Texas and TWC is not live. That's bad for a channel about weather.
Update from Todd, TWC is going live at 8pm.

This is sad a tornado might have been causing damage while TWC stayed on tape with an old show on tornadoes from tornado week at 7pm.

At the least you have to agree it was a bad idea to not schedule WCL at 7pm, 10pm and 1am and replace it with reruns.

It is still called The Weather Channel right? If there is a tornado outbreak and they don't cover it they might as well change their name.

How could there be no backup plan to go live at 7pm ET or 7:30pm when the tornadoes were spotted in Texas.

It's not just me. Many others on FB were asking why TWC was on tape and not live and some are complaning that they went to tape at 12am.

TWC can't even bother do to WCL at 1am. The network is a joke and I'm not watching.

The Weather Channel is well past due to be rebranded as "TWC." It took long enough for the TV Guide Network rebranding to happen.

Don't get me wrong. I get the point that TWC is not going to be live weather forecasts 24/7 nor should they be.
I'm just saying tonight they made bad programming decisions for Wednesday.
They could at least have done WCL at 1am ET.

Last night shows that they've sown the wind (tornado-related longform*) and reaped the whirlwind (an actual tornado event).  They're covering it really good today, though.  In between Breaking News updates on damage, they're showing The Big 4 Cast complete with those awful icons that look like... something NBC would come up with.  :yes:

* At least it is weather related.  One of the biggest complaints about longform I've seen is that it isn't that related to weather ("Prospectors," "Reef Wranglers," etc.).  So, the type of longform is a step in the right direction, but the scheduling is not.

I guess Sunday's All Day Coverage is more important than the current tornadoes on the ground tonight  :pinch:
