Received some damaging storm winds yesterday morning. Small limbs, nothing serious. Of course I was at work when it happened. <_<

Very strong storms this evening. Torrential rains 1-2" per hour. Areas that I have never seen flood, flooded. :blink: Ominous blue and green color to the clouds. Of course I just got out of work after it started, but the rain was really something else.

2007 was a very hot summer, all of our record highs this week have been from that year.

... Record high temperature set at Paducah KY...
The record high temperature of 101 degrees was tied at Paducah KY
yesterday, August 14, which was also set in 1954. A new record high
temperature occurred on August 12 when the temperature reached 104
degrees. The highest temperature for the month of August at Paducah
is 106 degrees set on August 4 1947.
Also... a record high temperature of 99 degrees was set at Evansville
yesterday, August 14. This breaks the old record of 98 set in 1918.
This is the third consecutive day of record-setting temperatures for
the community. On August 13th the temperature reached a
record-setting 99 degrees and on the 12th the thermometer topped out
at 101 degrees. The highest temperature recorded in August at
Evansville is 105 degrees which occurred on August 8 and 9 of 1930.

It is still in the lower to middle 90's, but the dew point isn't that high. There is a big difference between dry heat and moisture laden heat. :yes:

While hot and humid weather is the norm for this time of year... the
degree of heat and humidity this Summer continues to mount a charge
at the record books.
One of these is the number of consecutive days at or above 90
degrees. As of today... August 22nd... the following is the number of
consecutive days at or above 90:

This week will be a transition week to lower temperatures and
humidities. Temperatures and humidities will not be quite as high
later in the week. In fact... high temperatures will be mostly in
the lower to mid 80s Thursday... with lows in the 50s.
Final statistics will not be ready until September... but it
appears the Summer of 2010 will be among the ten hottest on record
at Paducah... Evansville... and Poplar Bluff.

A low temperature of 2 degrees was recorded this morning on the
Barkley Regional Airport ASOS. The sets a new record low for
February 11. The old record was 4 degrees last set on this date in
1981. The all-time record low for the month of February is 14 below
zero set on February 2nd, 1951. This is the second consecutive day
that new record low temperatures were recorded.

Sunday's afternoon high temperature at Barkley Regional Airport
reached 74 degrees. This ties the old record high temperature of 74
degrees set on February 20, 1986. The highest temperature recorded
during the month of February is 78 degrees set on February 13th of
1962... only 4 degrees warmer than yesterday's temperature.

... High average temperatures for July affected many communities...
Temperatures during the month of July were well above normal for
many communities across the quad state area. The other issue was
the high humidity levels... which combined with the afternoon
temperatures... developed heat index readings 100 degrees or
greater nearly every day for the last two weeks of July.
In the Paducah area... the average temperature for July was 81.9
degrees... or 3.7 degrees above normal. This makes July of 2011 the
5th warmest July on record. The record is 84.2 degrees set in
1993. In Paducah... the average temperature for the Summer season
is running 80 degrees or 3.4 degrees above normal through July.
In the Evansville area... the average temperature for July was 82.5
degrees... or 3.9 degrees above normal. This makes July of 2011 the
5th warmest July on record. The record is 85.1 degrees set in
1936. In Evansville... the average temperature for the Summer season
is running 79.4 degrees or 2.7 degrees above normal through July.

February 29 was 45 degrees. This sets a new record for highest

Thanks for you concern, Don. :) It was all south where I live. Although I was about five minuets from leaving work when we had to take shelter. I didn't get to witness what happened. I toured the area after getting out and only saw some flash flooding. TWC did show a hook echo rolling through Huntingburg, IN.
