With skies remaning clear, a FREEZE WARNING has been issued by the National Weather Service, effective from 1 AM until 9 AM Thursday. First Freeze Since Spring Recorded on November 4, 2011

At 6:12 AM on Friday, November 4, 2011, the temperature at Oklahoma City Will Rogers World Airport dropped to 28°F.  This is the first below freezing temperature that has been recorded since the pre-summer season.

5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Oklahoma City

At around 10:53 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck about 45 miles east of Oklahoma City.  Earlier that morning, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake also struck.  Many aftershocks were felt from both incidents.  According to weather.com, "...the latest quake [aftershock] hit at 3:39 am Sunday, measuring 4.0 in magnitude and centered 36 miles east of Oklahoma City."  This is the largest earthquake on record for Oklahoma.

Severe Thunderstorms Possible on Monday

Those in Oklahoma City and Norman will need to keep their eyes out for a round of severe storms that is expected to hit tomorrow.  There is an 80% chance of thunderstorms, and severe threats include heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possibly some hail.  Tornadoes are not expected with this storm system.

This is no joke. :P

Oklahoma City did not quite reach the 90s.  The temperature at Will Rogers World Airport topped out at 88°F yesterday.  Some areas of far southwestern Oklahoma were only a few degrees away from the triple-digits!  It's a little too early to be this warm.

It's the 70°-plus club!  For the past five days, temperature across the OKC metro have been far above average for late-November and early-December.  So it's certainly hard to get into that Christmas spirit.  Here is the log of the high temperatures, recorded at Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport, for the past five days.  Note the records set on two of the days.

For the past couple of weeks, two winter storms which have moved through the area have brought measurable snowfall.  Northern Oklahoma has been impacted the most, but accumulating snowfall did make its way as far south as Oklahoma City.  (Unfortunately, snowfall rates in both storms at the southern edge of the OKC metro were not heavy enough, leading to melting of any accumulating snowfall rapidly after it fell.)

The totals you see in the graphic are valid for Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport.

While the Northeast dealt with a blizzard, we were treated to three days of spring-like, record-setting temperatures.
