Yeah I was saying thanks for the thread.

That's not advertising. I do not know your definition of "advertising" but I didn't make my statement towards that.

Warmer weather returns for today, and will stick around through Tuesday. No precipitation is expected anytime soon, unfortunately (we could use some rain).

After a damp and raw last couple of days, sunshine can finally be seen across the New York City metropolitan area
this morning. Temperatures have dropped since yesterday's high of 63° at 9:08 AM in Central Park and it is only
in the 40s at this hour. A strong cold front has been sweeping through the northeastern United States as
it replaces the mild southwesterly flow of air with strong west to northwest winds. Some locations are reporting
sustained winds of at least 20 MPH and gusts over 30 MPH.

There is the slight chance of showers in the forecast for tomorrow, but for the time being, it will be fair and breezy
across most of the region.

Brand new to my New York City weather reports is a regional northeastern weather map for latest observations
and forecasts. This will also be used on the Philadelphia weather thread. It is made to resemble those used on
the IntelliSTAR coverage areas for both the New York City and Philadelphia television markets. However, I will use
Jamestown, New York as my primary site for that part of the region with Bradford, Pennsylvania and
Erie, Pennsylvania as backup sites. You will also see these locations used in future reports from time to time...
Atlantic City, New Jersey; Dover, Delaware; Elkins, West Virginia; Williamsport, Pennsylvania;
Scranton, Pennsylvania and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

PLEASE NOTE:
The following reporting stations have been substituted with backup ones.
Somerville, New Jersey (no weather observations since 8:40 AM) with Parsippany, New Jersey
Newburgh, New York (no weather observations since 9:45 AM) with Middletown, New York
Westhampton Beach, New York (no wind report) has no substitute site included

It is an unseasonable mild overnight period during the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day in the New York City
metropolitan area. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s across the city at this hour while mainly in the 40s
in the northern and western suburbs. However, the main story right now is the fog in some areas.
For example, White Plains, New York is reporting just ¼ mile visibility and shrouded in fog.
In fact, there is a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 9:00 AM Eastern Standard Time this morning
for the Lower Hudson River Valley, coastal Connecticut and northeastern New Jersey.

Spectators that will be in New York City later this morning for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade won't have to
worry too much about rain dampering plans at the start, but partly sunny skies won't be seen well with patchy fog
hanging around. Just make sure that you don't eat your turkey outdoors in the afternoon as showers accompanying an approaching cold front will move through. Much colder temperatures are expected for "Black Friday" as readings
will only top out in the low 40s, a good 10° below normal for the second half of November.

I have not added the transparent byline on the photo yet, but to give the appropriate copyright credit,
the current conditions graphic page background is by nito80 at Flickr.

PLEASE NOTE:
Due to technical difficulties, the National Weather Service forecast pages provided zonal forecasts.
I had to do an extreme rarity, and that's having to post a mean forecast temperature on the weather maps.

The anticipated cold front is now moving through the region and temperatures will continue to drop during
the overnight hours. After peak readings this morning in the low to mid 60s, the unseasonably mild air has
been pushed out and the colder air has moved in. It will be a fair and breezy day on "Black Friday" with
high temperatures only reaching the low 40s.

THE WEATHER OBSERVATIONS POSTED BELOW AREN'T CURRENT. THEY ARE FROM EARLIER IN THE DAY.

In the wake of the late autumn storm that brought a mixed bag of precipitation to the northeastern United States
late Saturday into early yesterday, strong westerly winds and variably cloudy skies can be found regionwide
this afternoon. Winds in most locations can see gusts reaching as high as 50 MPH before diminishing tomorrow.
At this hour, Parsippany, New Jersey's wind gust is reporting 48 MPH, the highest among the observation stations
I use.

Here is the latest weather statement from the National Weather Service forecast office in Upton, New York:

STRONG WINDS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT...

A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7:00 AM EASTERN STANDARD TIME ON TUESDAY.

West to northwest winds of 25 to 35 MPH with gusts 45 to possibly 50 MPH can be expected in the wake of
rapidly deepening low pressure. These strong winds will continue into late tonight before the sustained winds
and strongest gusts begin to weaken.

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 MPH or gusts will range between
46 and 57 MPH. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

There is a slight chance of showers or an isolated chance of a mix of rain and snow today and tonight.
It will be fair tomorrow, but an Alberta Clipper is expected to move through on Wednesday that will bring
snow showers to the area with little or no accumulation. After being near normal today, high temperatures
are expected to be below normal once again for the remainder of this week.

PLEASE NOTE:
New Brunswick, New Jersey was not used in the local/regional weather observations graphics pages,
but I have included that location's wind speed and wind chill value data in the list at the bottom of this post.
