Sorry to post so much in here!

We did it! We broke the All-time Highest Min-Temperature for June! AND, we also broke the All-time Highest Daily Average Temperature for June, thus, yesterday was the warmest day so early in the year and warmest day ever recorded in the month of June. Climate Record Period: 1984-2012

Islip Area  (ThreadEx Station)
Extremes
Highest Daily Minimum Temperature (degrees F)
Days: 6/1 - 6/30
Length of period: 1 day

Last value also occurred in one or more previous years.

This station's record may include data from more than one, possibly incompatible,
locations. It reflects the longest available record for the Islip Area.

       western Massachusetts
       central and northern New Jersey
southeastern New York and Long Island
       south-central and eastern Pennsylvania
       coastal waters

Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 145 PM until 900
PM EDT.

mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is approximately along and 105

Harrisburg Pennsylvania to 35 miles northwest of Pittsfield
Massachusetts. For a complete depiction of the watch see the

Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

... Strong thunderstorms will impact Suffolk County...

At 741 am EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking
strong thunderstorms from Islip to Robert Moses State Park... moving
northeast at 30 mph.

These storms will be...
near Ronkonkoma by 750 am.
Near Farmingville by 800 am.
Near Patchogue by 805 am.
Near Coram by 810 am.
Near Middle Island by 815 am.
Near Shirley by 825 am.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning... and hail up to nickel size are
expected with these storms. Very heavy rain... with rainfall rates of
up to 2 inches an hour... could also cause ponding of water on
roadways... and minor flooding of poor drainage areas.

Lightning is one of natures number one killers. Remember... if you can
hear thunder... you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move
to safe shelter immediately.

It's truly amazing how much rain we had over the past couple of days! Get a load of this! My weather station's original 1-hour rainfall record was 1.11" set on 4-17-2011. We broke that record just the other day on 6-22-2012, coming in with 1.29" of rain. And now only a dew days later, today 6-25-2012, we broke it again!, coming in with 1.35" and still climbing!

We got a heat wave on our hands over the next couple of days. Unfortunately, it's hard to predict how hot it will get. A SW wind is a on-shore flow, which may keep temperatures down a little. While inland places will be approaching 100°F, coastal locations should be in the low to mid 90's. Also, humidity will increase, but there isn't much confidence in how much. Dew Points are supposed to increase into the mid and upper 60's (possible some 70's if a sea breeze kicks in). The NWS forecast calls for a drop in dew points on Friday and Saturday, during the afternoon hours. It is uncertain how much the ocean will effect us over the next couple of days. If the sea breeze isn't much of a factor, temperatures will be higher, but humidity will be lower; if a slight sea breeze kicks in, it will be slightly cooler but humidity will increase.

... Strong thunderstorm will impact northeastern Nassau and Suffolk
counties...

At 513 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking a
strong thunderstorm near Huntington Station... and moving southeast at
30 mph.

This storm will be...
near Dix Hills by 520 PM.
Near Deer Park by 530 PM.
Near Babylon by 535 PM.
5 miles northeast of Gilgo State Park by 540 PM.
Near Robert Moses State Park by 550 PM.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning and gusty winds up to 50 mph are
expected with this storm. Hail up to nickel size is also possible.

Lightning is one of natures number one killers. Remember... if you can
hear thunder... you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move
to safe shelter immediately.

Very warm temperatures expected today. Today's NWS forecast calls for a high of 95°F. Water temperatures around Long Island might exceed 80°F for the first time since September 2010. Big time relief is expected by next week with highs only in the low 80's.
