... Record October snowfall amount set for Central Park NY...

As of 2 PM today... Central Park recorded 1.3 inches of snowfall.
Since snowfall records began in 1869... an inch of snowfall has never
been recorded in the month of October. The last two times that
measurable snow fell in the month of October was... October 21 1952
with 0.5 inches and October 30 1925 with 0.8 inches.
Therefore... this breaks the daily record for snowfall in October and
the most snowfall ever recorded in the month of October.

Officially picked up 0.3" of snow at KISP. This is the earliest snowfall ever record here. The previous early snowfall record was Nov. 8th, 2010. The ocean kept much of central and eastern Long Island warm, helping the precipitation to fall as rain, it did transition all to snow at 10PM last night and ended around 2:30AM. The temperatures never dropped below freezing so the snow only stuck to the grass, cars and roofs. Places west of here like (NYC) received over 2" there compared to only 0.3" out here. Ocean temperatures remain in the low 60's.

Record highs are in jeopardy once again. Tomorrow's forecast high is 65°F which would tie the record set in 1999.

Talk about being above average. I hate when it's too warm.

This month so far has been 3.2°F above average. This will make it the 10th month in a row with above average temperatures. Last below average month was January 2011. Good news is that it looks like temperatures will cool down to average and below average for December.

Current Conditions as of 9:19PM on Nov. 25th, 2011:
51°F
Under Fair Skies
RH: 61%
Dew Point: 38°F
Wind: 10mph from the WSW
