I took the radar data from today's storm and analyzed it both in 2-D and 3-D. I used the Isosurface KML Generator in the program I was using to generate a 3-D image of the storm at specific heights ASL (Above Sea Level).

We got another storm on our hands tonight. Except this time, winds aren't going to be the main issue. The main issue with this storm will be the heavy rain. A slow moving cold front will trigger heavy amounts of rain. Winds will be light, 10-20mph with a occasional gust to 30mph.

We got a heat wave coming up. Dew points right around 70, more humid the closer to the coast, especially on Thursday. These will be the area's first 90 degree days. So far, we are actually running below average on 90 degree days, and we should have had our first 90 degree day already! :blink:

I knew they would eventually issue one for us  :biggrin:

... Heat advisory in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* Locations... western Suffolk County.

* Hazards... high heat.

* Heat index values... 100 to 104.

* Timing... this afternoon and early evening.

* Impacts... these expected heat indices will result in dangerous
conditions for those spending prolonged periods of time outside.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and
humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to
104 degrees for two consecutive hours. Take extra precautions if
you work or spend time outside. When possible... reschedule
strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs
and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light
weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty
of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency... call 9 1 1.

Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

I'd like to also point out that we probably will break the record for the All-time Highest June Min-Temperature on record. That record is 75 degrees. So far, the low at KISP this morning was only 77 degrees, and with temperatures likely to remain above 77 degrees for the rest of the day, the low is likely to remain at 77. This is 2 degrees higher than the original All-time Highest June Min-Temperature on record, and 4 degrees shy of the All-time Highest Min-Temperature on record in KISP history.
