A nice chilly and breezy morning today in Grand Forks! Currently 33 degrees, with a few clouds. The winds currently knock the wind chill factor down to 24 degrees.

Short term: Temperatures won't make it very far today, only climbing to around 49, and to 44 by Wednesday. Lows will hold in the mid to upper 20s the next few nights. The good news is, this trend won't last long, as an isolated 60 or two are possible at the beginning of the next work week.

A cool and crisp 23 degrees was the low this morning. If weather conditions remain favorable, we may hit a low in the upper 10s tonight. To my friends down south: enjoy the warmth while it lasts!

We hit a pleasant low of 20 in Grand Forks today, and currently we have freezing fog being reported on campus. We should warm up nicely today, though, with an expected high of 53 degrees.

Light rain in the region.

In other news, a rare fire tornado was reported in Langdon. Picture below. Pretty cool, eh? :P

New England had their fun, but models are pointing to another winter storm, this time for the Northern Plains. Still a while out, but if the models continue similar runs, the Dakotas and Minnesota could be getting their first big snowfall of the year. Not as much as New England, I'm guessing, but still a respectable amount.

It is currently 19 degrees right now in the Grand Cities, with a wind chill hovering around 9 or 10 degrees. More cold air expected in the short term, with highs possibly not making it to 40.

It's amazing how little snow can really reduce visibility when the wind starts throwing it around. About a half inch to an inch of snow on the ground here in Grand Forks, and snowfall should continue in the short term. Winter is finally here. :D

One of the coldest nights of November set to hit North Dakota, with the albedo of the snowfall and clearing skies conjuring up a temperature plummet. No official numbers yet, but the GFK Forecast Discussion suggests that lows to the west of the Grand Cities may get below zero. Current low for Grand Forks tonight is 7 degrees.
