Areas of thunderstorms that will bring relief from the heat are currently moving through the Denver area. My graphics show the (approximate) 6PM reports, but as of 6:53 PM local time, Denver International Airport is currently reporting a thunderstorm and 75º.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHWESTERN DOUGLAS COUNTY IN NORTHEAST COLORADO
  INCLUDING THE HAYMAN BURN AREA

* UNTIL 800 PM MDT

* AT 506 PM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  VERY HEAVY RAIN FROM A THUNDERSTORM 3 MILES WEST OF WESTCREEK...OR
  ABOUT 30 MILES NORTHWEST OF COLORADO SPRINGS. THIS STORM WAS NEARLY
  STATIONARY.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO WESTCREEK.

DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT RAIN FROM THE STORM IS FALLING AT THE
RATE OF 2 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY
AUTOMOBILE. TURN AROUND...DO NOT DROWN.

HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS...STREAMS...
AND DITCHES IN THE HAYMAN FIRE BURN AREA. SOME DRAINAGE BASINS
AFFECTED BY EXCESSIVE RUNOFF INCLUDE FOURMILE CREEK...TURKEY CREEK...
AND WEST CREEK...AND OTHER TRIBUTARIES OF THE SOUTH PLATTE RIVER.
ROCK SLIDES OR MUD FLOWS CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED ACROSS RURAL ROADS.

Whoa! Pretty humid weather

Although Denver isn't as hot as in the great plains, temperatures there are still about 10° above where they should be this time of year. Tomorrow is forecast to be even warmer than today in some spots along the Rockies, then there will be a cooldown to the 70's by week's end.
