Title: Wrong City Name
Post by: TWCToday on January 04, 2011, 07:00:06 PM
Name: Pat Reilly

Subject: Hancock

Message: I live in Omaha.Your 8's weather always shows Omaha, Hancock
and Blair across the bottom of your screen. Pray tell me where you
came up with Hancock! There is no city, town, village or county by
that name in Nebraska. There is a Hancock County in northern Iowa, but
its closer to Minneapolis than Omaha. I'm tired of my wife asking me
where Hancock is, and telling her there is no Hancock. But she insists
you wouldn't keep running it across the screen if there wasn't one.

Local ID is 22749

The above message was sent via our general contact form from a viewer.

Hmm... Clearly, the IntelliStar is displaying a location name of Hancock, yet that location does not exist in that area. Something tells me that it might be a location error and should be corrected soon.

I have seen observation site locations that are up to 100 miles from a headend, but never a made up city.

As mentioned this was reported via email to us. I simply passed along the information I have been given. The individual has yet to contact me again with an update

I have checked the Headend information and I do not see Hancock anywhere in the experience. The LDL has Omaha, Offutt AFB, and Papillion. I do not see Hancock on any of the maps.

BTW, Hancock, IA is 30 miles ENE of Omaha...it is in Pottawattamie County which according to our area served information is being fed by this headend.
