Title: Weatherscan City/Unit Changed?
Post by: beanboy89 on December 15, 2014, 02:58:19 PM
Last Wednesday night-Thursday morning (December 10-11), the Weatherscan unit based in Chambersburg PA (ID 20778), which I had been receiving for many years here in Hanover, PA on Comcast channel 101 was down for at least 15 hours. It was presumably rebooted and was running fine as of Thursday afternoon.

Today, I come to find that I am now seeing the Harrisburg, PA-based Weatherscan here in Hanover. The Chambersburg unit wasn't exactly centered on Hanover, but did include forecasts and conditions for Hanover, as well as many other surrounding towns, which the Chambersburg unit presumably covered. The current Weatherscan that I'm seeing from Harrisburg only includes forecasts and conditions for Harrisburg, which is over 30 miles away from Hanover and over 45 miles from Chambersburg. Is this a temporary change or is Comcast restructuring things?

I submitted the issue to the tech support form at weather.com, and they are "aware of this issue and are working to resolve it."

Sorry about reviving a really old thread, but this problem has happened again (as on August 3, 2015). The Harrisburg Weatherscan unit is back in service in the Hanover, PA area on Comcast/Xfinity. It appears that the configuration of the Harrisburg unit has not changed in the last eight months, either, and does not include Hanover in it's forecasts.
