Title: Severe Weather Alerts
Post by: Lightning on February 07, 2014, 11:47:08 PM
This may seem like a dumb question, but since I haven't had much severe weather since the relaunch 3 months ago I wanted to ask this: Will severe weather alerts such severe thunderstorm and tornado watches and severe thunderstorm, tornado, and flash flood warnings still be scrolling at the bottom of the screen making loud beeps?

There is no audio tone any more, but they do crawl still. They are all red now too. No yellow/orange.

The audio alert tone still plays...on my IS.

Last time I had a Severe Thunderstorm warning, the alert tone played. It was in late November, IIRC.

Just to add to this, my county is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, and my IntelliStar is still making the alert tone.

I remember hearing the warning tone once back in December during a severe weather outbreak.

Getting the alert tone every time the crawl repeats itself.

I just heard the tones on mine two days ago when severe weather went through southern Ohio.  The warning part was a white strip with red letters.

.....and there was a second scroll right underneath it that was weather headlines or something like that!  How distracting!!!  :hammer:

I agree.  Despite all its hype for providing coverage during severe weather, the weather bulletin crawls aren't nearly as prominent or "urgent" as they once were, but just a minor addition to an already-busy screen.

Well, I'm glad it's still there, but I wish the print was larger. I hope there's still a tone alert on mine, because we haven't been under any warnings, except Winter Storm Warnings.

My county was under four tornado warnings and (at least) two severe thunderstorm warnings today.  No tone.  No dual feed, either.
