If anybody lives in Oklahoma, Arizona or Utah and uses the Dish Satellite service, please let me know.
-
I don't believe that anyone here fits those qualifications. Although, I could be wrong. Also, we are always getting new members.
If you are referring to the DISH Weatherscan, I can't wait to see what it looks like!
Also, can you tell us if there will be a similar service on DirecTV? I've been waiting for something like this to come to DirecTV.

No, I don't think there are any on the forums but i could be wrong. I have Dish, but we don't have the regional weather service yet. I've been looking for TWC fans on YT from those areas with DISH, but found none.
I'm curious to know when Dish will roll this service out for the Philadelphia DMA.

I'll be in Arizona a few more days.
I should mention. The little title bar to the right of the date has only been displaying "Severe Weather Update" for the past few hours.
-
My friend have one, I'll check it out one day and see if I can record it on my VCR.
-
I should mention. The little title bar to the right of the date has only been displaying "Severe Weather Update" for the past few hours.
The title bar has since corrected itself. I'm not sure if it's suppose to only display "Severe Weather Update" when the warning crawl is being displayed. But that seems to be what it does.

That's normal, at least on cable weatherscans.

I do have a suggestion. Is there anyway the cities can be spread out more evenly? Meaning each city gets an equal amount of time to display its local information. Because as you can see by the images I have attached, basically every other segment is for Phoenix.

So, does it just circle through cities in AZ? Are there any products or just cities?

Wow, thanks for providing these pictures. So, it IS weatherscan. I wonder if they'll implement the same technology to it's local on the 8s products eventually.

Yeah pretty much. It does display airport conditions though.
Here's the current sequence of cities and segments:
Phoenix
Tucson
Phoenix
Flagstaff
Airport
Lake Havasu City
Phoenix
Tucson
Phoenix
Tucson
Phoenix
Tucson
Phoenix
Airport

One more suggestion. And I probably shouldn't double post again but, is there anyway the text on this frame can be changed to simply "Arizona" or could each city get its own dedicated frame?
-
Interesting that the message at the top of the screen is different than other Weatherscans. Cable Weatherscans say "Weatherscan is brought to you by The Weather Channel and [cable co name]."

I seriously doubt that is possible. I know for a fact that Flagstaff's weather is totally different from Phoenix and Tuscon because of elevation alone. Even Phoenix's and Tuscon's weather varies from time to time, especially in winter.

Anyone have a guess on how long it will take to get this up to Milwaukee WI? How many miles does weatherscan cover at one time? I'm in Brookfield but, I'm guessing I'll be in the milwaukee area on weatherscan???
What channel are you seeing weatherscan on? HD?
Also, does Dish have music or NWS on weatherscan?

It is being tested in three states right now. No word on when other parts of the country will be getting it. For now, they cover several DMAs on one unit. There is no HD, and the music is Weatherscan music.

Wow, this service has already proved itself to be incredibly useful. It informed me of a severe thunderstorm shortly before getting blasted by one. Lovely. However, it would be nice if it specified which region the warning had been issued for in the warning crawl's title bar. To prevent confusion.

I also find it strange that your particular unit has Phoenix as its city for the station ID and two-minute forecast, but the L-bar city is Tucson. Also are the Phoenix and Tucson segments supposed to display more often than the Flagstaff segment?

The L-bar loops through all 4 cities, but Phoenix and Tucson are displayed more often. Like it'll display Flagstaff, then run through Phoenix and Tucson before displaying Lake Havasu City. It seems to follow the same pattern as the main video thing.

Disproportion of cities displayed (i.e. Phoenix) was specifically requested by Dish.

I have two questions about the Dish Weatherscan:
One: Is Weatherscan available for Dish subscribers who live in rural areas? For example, let's say I lived in Arizona in a rural area between Phoenix and Tucson and I have Dish. Do I get Weatherscan there?
Two: Anyone have any idea when Weatherscan will be available to Dish subscribers in the NW, like Seattle and/or Spokane? Someday I want to record the Dish Weatherscan from a friend's house and put a clip on YT.
-
1. Yes. It's available for the entire states of Arizona, Oklahoma, and Utah
2. I don't think that they are 100% sure that they know. It could be months before it is rolled out to even a few more states.

Can anybody get video of a dish weatherscan?
