Weatherscan DISH network progress?
« on: April 14, 2011, 09:22:49 PM »
Do any of our TWC insiders know the progress on the Dish network Weatherscan TWC promised? I have heard nothing about it since last summer and am concerned TWC pulled the plug on this much needed project... thanks in advance.

Units have been in testing by Dish for many months now. The progress of the project is unknown. IMO, don't expect much until the next generation Weatherscan is released.

next generation Weatherscan

Weatherscan HD? (some time ago a there some roomer of a up coming channel with a name that may of been Weatherscan HD or some thing like WX HD) other listed in the past channels like MTV 2 HD and chiller HD where listed in a few places and never launched.

Weatherscan that can better cover a mero area with better working with stacked head ends?

Weatherscan 16:9 SD?

As mentioned before I HIGHLY doubt an HD unit would be created. I may be wrong but many cable headends are still in a tight bind for bandwidth and they wouldn't want to waste it on something that would work just fine in SD and that people wont be watching for long periods of time.

I can safely say the next generation Weatherscan will not be in HD.

Yeah, I was wondering because it's been a year since dish promised this.
