Title: Upgrade Successful!
Post by: lfmusiclover on March 19, 2008, 09:17:51 AM
The upgrade to SMF 2.0 is now complete, and was a success!

There are lots of new things to be had with this version, so feel free to ask questions!

A new profile field has been added-WxSTAR version. As at TWCC, simply input which version of WxSTAR you have. This will show in your profile, just as it does at TWCC.

I noticed we have a warning system now?

Since the calendar at the bottom of the forum index says today's the Vernal Equinox, does that mean we can start the Front Porch now?

Just noticed that some of the custom IPB emoticons are back to the SMF defaults, like...

,, :P, and :(.

Here are the SMF icons I'm seeing:

(see attachment)

I even cleared my cache twice. Try clearing your cache, Gary.

When I read at the SMF site it said this just a "beta".
Title: Re: Upgrade Successful!

And your point?

The smiley issue should be fixed now.
Title: Re: Upgrade Successful!
Post by: Localonthe8s on March 19, 2008, 12:36:19 PM
I was just mentioning that this is just a test.

Also, I'm seeing a variety of commands that are available whenever i view topics in the TWC Today News board.

Like "Lock topic, remove topic, merge topics, etc.".

Is it supposed to be there?
Title: Re: Upgrade Successful!
Post by: lfmusiclover on March 19, 2008, 12:37:27 PM
I think all that should be there. You are, after all, still a moderator.

As for this being a test..no it is not. It is a real, permanent version of the forum software. The Beta part just means it may still have imperfections.

Gary, is there going to be some sort of formal policy coming out regarding the warning system?  How long a warn lasts, what constitutes a warn, etc?

Also, I take it that only administrators can issue a warning?  I would think that because Victor is a "moderator" () that he would be able to unwarn himself...

No i cannot unwarn/warn members. That is strictly an admin job.

EDIT: What is the buddy list used for? And can anyone else see my warn besides me, the moderators and admins?

The only "mod" ones I get are Modify, Remove, and Split Topic. Do different mods get different privileges, or what? Also, can someone please explain to me how the new warning system works. I didn't even see it.

I've fixed the three missing emoticons (the sad, the rolleyes, and the shocked emoticons), as well as cleaned up the clickable emoticons list (but as always, all of the emoticons are available on the pop-up menu). If there are anymore missing emoticons, please let me know! B)

I think it's because now we can actually see that they are bots. Before, they were still here as much as they are now, but they were just listed as guests, so it was impossible to tell that it was a bot.

Post by: lfmusiclover on March 21, 2008, 10:21:13 AM
Yeah Gil is right. There are no more here now than at any previous time. The only difference is that 2.0 features the ability to show them in the Online Users box. If you recall, I used to complain about not being able to see the search engine bots, because you could with IPB.

This new version of SMF makes me a happy boy.  :P :rofl2:

Is there a way to only have the information display on the profile and not on the "mini profiles" next to the posts? IMO, the mini profiles look a bit cluttered with the custom profile fields on them.

Correct. There was also a "favorite OCM" field. They replaced them with the STAR related fields in early '06 (long before Thunder joined) to make it easier for the STAR team to find out people's STAR info.
