I don't like the fact I have no choice but to use it.... I click quote and it puts the reply at the box at the bottom. I like having it go to a separate unobtrusive page. If a user had the option to not use it, I'd highly appreciate it.

It can be disabled by going to   profile > Look and layout preferences > Go down a little bit and it'll say "Use quick reply on topic display:"

it's a great thing to have a quick reply on the bottom, but as Jesse said its best to be optional.

I prefer it to be optional as well.  I find it better to just hit "reply" and go to the posting page where I can see more of the previous posts and have all the customizations available.

It certainly is optional. Debating as to have it off by default in which users would have to choose to turn it on.

I think that would be the better option. Personally, I'm annoyed at being taken automatically to the quick reply box. I think it would be best to have it off by default and allow everyone to decide whether they want it on.
