Good, that means I've set it up right.

And yes Thunder, its an Admin chat forum. We admins seem to have some communications troubles, so I put up the admin forum as a way of trying to alleviate that problem. But rest assured, we won't be saying nasty things about anyone, or anything else that shouldn't be said. We're not "hiding" or anything.

Aah. That makes sense. I am an admin of one forum site and only admins and moderators can view. I can post the link to the site if you want but not in this thread. (The site is not TWc related anyway. But we are in need of members and you can talk about TWC if you want. It's a general chat forum)

Though I am somewhat unsure about the possible effects, I have decided to make it so that guests cannot view the forum unless they register. This is being done on a trial basis right now. Depending on what happens, it may become permanent, or I may decide to allow guests to once again view the boards. I'm not too crazy about this measure, but it seems that TWC Classics is doing just fine with such a measure in place. That's why its only being done on a trial basis at this time.

Yeah I just went to the site via my proxy in Atlanta as a Guest and I couldnt see the admin forum.

To be honest, I really don't like the idea of not allowing guests viewing the forum (or any forum for that matter). I know it helps prevent spammers from entering and makes the forum more secure, but I'm sure many people like to see how the forum is arranged, and how the behavior is like there before registering. Otherwise if guests were to register and then look at the forums and don't like it for whatever reason, they'd just "leave," and it would just be a waste of time signing up.

Just my two cents.

TWO COLUMNS

Good things                                                 Bad things

1. People who are banned cannot                    1. New people cannot look at it
see what is going on these forums                   before they join, so they dont
                                                                 know what is on the boards
2. It blocks the spammers from
accessing your forum                                     2. The new people might be turned
                                                                 away cause of stated above
3. The forum is more secure





What should be done is a combo of those good and bad things (not easily can be done though)
