Title: New Server
Post by: TWCToday on September 28, 2010, 09:41:02 AM
After careful consideration I have decided to move the site and forum to a new server. I would like to note that I will continue our old hosts services for up to two months while we evaluate the new host and determine if the move was the best choice. Over the course of today and tonight some parts of the forum may act a little strange. The default forum url will be properly working soon as well. Attachments are being restored as we speak. In regards to the TWC Today website, most of the files needed for that are already in place. Thanks for being patient! :)

Thanks to Brian for all of his help with the move!

Nice, but there are some bugs right now. The logo is missing, and I had trouble logging in earlier (had to reset my password). In addition, the member map is missing. And the system keeps on randomly logging me out.

Jesse or Martin will work on the logo later today.

Also, everything seems to be working fine, Martin! :)

The dns servers my laptop uses haven't propgated as of yet, thus I am still getting to the old site. Once that eventually corrects itself in the next 12 hours or so, I will fix the logo. There are errors in the php coding due to the transfer, so bear with me please! It's high on my priority list. :-)

Actually the logos seem to work just fine. I had to actually upload them :P

Weather stuff will return shortly

Although I had no problems logging in today, it isn't remembering me after I leave (normally it does). Also, the unread topics feature (at the top) isn't working. It says all topics have been read, even though they haven't.

Hmm I still have topics populated there. Let me look into that!!

Seems to be working now. Thanks. :)

Edit: Something new I've noticed. There's something being added to certain URLs. It doesn't seem to cause any problems, but it defintely wasn't there before. For example, when you view new posts, it adds "wwwRedirect;" to the url. Any idea why?

I believe it's because we're using the www prefix now, and the forums want to make sure you have it there, in the event that you didn't before.

Apparently the new server is in the central time zone, thus the logo rotation was an hour off. This has now been fixed.

Speaking of the logo, have the times been updated to reflect TWC's new programming schedule?

The Monday through Thursday ones have. The Friday, Saturday, Sunday ones have not as I have yet to see a non-confusing schedule layout for it. Matt's schedule post is far too confusing for me to follow for those days, so I'll have to wait and see.

Doesn't seem to be an issue now.

So you were asleep when you typed that? :P

All attachments that were working before the move should be working now. Report any problems please :)

I removed it ;) Sorry about adding the www to it. I was tired that evening haha!

Just a note (I'm sure you all are probably aware of it but just want to make sure), the logo is currently broken on my end. A blank box with the white square/red "X" is showing up where the logo should be.

Just thought I'd bring this to your attention. :)

In Firefox, it looks like this:
http://omploader.org/vNW9rYQ (http://omploader.org/vNW9rYQ)

Also, when I visit the logo image directly, I get this:

In Firefox, it looks like this:

Wow...you have the really old version of the forums.

And I guess that means something is wrong with the logo. :hmm:

The logo on the old theme is broken, it's on my todo list to fix. Sorry about that.

3 people currently use the "old" Core Theme. Please note in the future that wont be supported. I really am surprised some of you are even using it!

This has been a problem with me for months, and yes I did try clearing my cache/cookies.

Had the same problem here. Then when the whole "switching hosts" happened, it went away. Just yesterday it came back.  :hmm:

I honestly have no idea on how to fix it. Everything I've tried doesn't seem to help. I'm hoping the next SMF release has something fixed. I apologize that I am unable to fix this. :(

Maybe it's just me, but the forums seem rather slow today.

There was a slow period for about 30 minutes, not sure what happened, as the web server wasn't apparently running, but it seems 100% now. Hopefully this is a fluke.
