Well, you hook the VCR output to the TV Tuner, whetehr it be Coaxial, Composite, or SVideo. Then play the VCR and record
on your TV tunrt

Its the same as if you were recording from any other source. I thought you've done this stuff beforE?

No, I've never recorded from a device other than the TV Tuner.

About what your trying to do. I dont see how it would be any different from recording live TV.

Just hook the VCR up to the Tuner.

Need some help guys. I taped some LF's and stuff this evening during the severe weather outbreak here, and I want to transfer what I taped to my PC. I have a video capture card, so how would I hook things up?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!  8)
Can't you hook your VCR up directly to your capture card?

Edit, totally missed all of page 7. :p

Yes Billy that's precisely what I'm trying to figure out how to do.

And no Gil, its not the same as recording from the TV Tuner. The TV Tuner is a device within the computer. A VCR is an external device.

Ok, well what jacks/ports does your TV tuner have?

What jacks/ports does the VCR have?

The VCR has only AV jacks, and the tuner has an S-Video jack and an AV jack.

Does the TV Tuner have an audio port?

Just connect the AV Jack on the computer to the AV jacks on the VCR, via composite cable.

What I've done for my recent recordings is that I've recorded my taped stuff to a DVD.Then I make clips from the DVDs.

I still can't get it to work. What I have is just a random AV cable. Each side has 3 plugs-yellow, white, and red. I plug the yellow and white plugs on one side into the audio and video jacks on the VCR, and plug the yellow plug on the other side into the AV in port on the capture card. But I cannot get a picture. What am I doing wrong?

Also, I was a little off on the ports on the back of the capture card. They are: FM, TV (a cable TV jack), Audio out, AV in, S-VHS (super video).

Okay, make sure your tuning into the correct port where the VCR is connected to. since almost every TV tuner is different, I can't help you there. once you get it tuned to the correct port of the connection, press play on teh VCR and start recording.

I don't know what's going on. I plug the yellow connector into the AV in port, press play on the VCR, but get no picture.

Like i said, make sure the software is tuned to the correct port on the TV tuner. What kind of TV Tuner do you have?
