Title: E-Mail Reminder
Post by: lfmusiclover on November 23, 2007, 11:35:31 PM
Just a reminder, please be sure that you set our e-mail messages as NOT spam, otherwise they will go right to your junk folder and you won't see them.

Yes, those emails got blocked by two layers of spamblockers

Strange, I got none of the emails. I even checked in my spam folder.

Any chance they might've gotten automatically deleted instead of put into the spam folder?

How do you unsubscribe from the e-mails?

How do you unsubscribe from the e-mails?
Profile -> Notifications and Email -> Uncheck "Receive forum announcements and important notifications by email."

Unsubscribing doesn't do any good. I can (and will) select to send e-mail to those who have unsubscribed.

To be honest, I don't see anything wrong with the emails.

If it was up to me I wouldn't give you the choice of unsubscribing from them. I only e-mail you guys about important issues, issues that I feel need immediate attention, and occassionally other things as well. There is no justification in the world for not wanting to receive my e-mails. I would think that anyone who cares about the site enough would want to receive e-mails.

Sending out e-mails to people w/out giving them an option to opt-out is spam plain and simple. I don't care if it's one message or only "important" ones. It's still spam. But that's okay, I'll just block them. If I want to hear any site news, I'll read it here when I feel like it.

There's no reason to opt-out. If my messages were truly spam, then I could understand people not wanting to receive them. Its ludicrous to me that anyone would not want to receive my messages.

BTW, you don't have to stay here you know. Your welcome to leave and not come back whenever you want. I certainly won't hold you back.

Gary-

I am one not to read eMails.  And I don't think Matt is saying "I'm not going to come here anymore because I get an eMail".  He does the same thing I do. I read all of the important news when I come here.  I don't need an eMail telling me when to come here (that sounds harsh..but im not done) because This is usually the 2nd or 3rd website I come to right when I get on my computer anyways

That would be spam Kyle. I'm not e-mailing you guys to tell you to come here. I e-mail you guys to pass along important information. For instance, I e-mailed recently to alert you guys to the problems we were having-without a site, I couldn't very well talk to you guys any other way, could I? And I also e-mailed you guys to ask you to please resubmit any contributions you had made, which I felt was a very important matter that needed to be brought to your attention ASAP.

I'm not saying your e-mails are spam in the sense that they're junk, I mean that you're not giving people the option to bypass them and read any news items here. And I definitely call it spam when you send them out regardless of the fact that they have unchecked the options from their profile. There's no reason why you can't give people the option of not getting the emails.

IMO, there are just certain circumstances, such as the recent missing files debacle, that require e-mail contact regardless of whether you want it or not. The site was not up so I had no other line of communication.
