Would you get national feeds?
« on: August 09, 2010, 01:36:05 PM »
Would you get national feeds of all channels (TWC included) if your cable headend crashed?

It would never happen with my headend. If it would happen then I would get local news in Milwaukee! That's just me.

I had to shorten the subject of this topic as it was crowding the forum board a little too much.  To answer your question, I don't think mine would.

No..

Simply put: if your headend crashed, you would see nothing on the screen.

As for TWC, the only reason you would get a national feed is due to the STAR not receiving signals from TWC.

I was myself because all channels but local OTAs on the lineup are national excluding headend-inserted ads and as for TWC, the video feed goes through the STAR unit and the only reason the national LDL or Sat LF is seen is because the STAR is not getting signals from TWC but is still probably powered on providing the video feed

Not to be rude, but I don't really understand this topic. How many national feeds of certain channels are there?

TWC is the special one here and i guess the tv guide channel or something. Most every other cable channel has one feed. The national feed as we call it is for folks who do not have access to a local forecast computer (ie Intellistar/WeatherSTAR). If that computer were to crash or become unavailable the viewer would see a "national" forecast in its place
