Time Warner Cable vs. Disney
« on: July 27, 2010, 10:43:55 PM »
Here we go again!! This time, Time Warner Cable is pitting itself against Disney regarding carriage fees. If no agreement is made, all Disney-owned networks such as Disney Channel, ABC Family, ESPN, etc. will be dropped on September 2nd. All ABC affiliates that are not owned & operated by Disney (like Belo-owned WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX) are not affected unless other broadcasting companies are in a dispute with Time Warner Cable as well.

This wasn't Time Warner's first dispute with Disney: a decade ago, ABC network O&O stations in NYC & LA were unavailable to TWC subscribers for 19 hours because TWC couldn't agree with Disney on whether or not they should add specialty channels like ESPN Classic and SOAPnet.

I'm sure Time Warner will reach a "zero-hour" deal like they always did ever since I can remember.

Indeed, my aunt who lives in Memphis, used to have Time Warner Cable. Now that head-end was bought by Comcast. Now I don't know what to think. I'm just lucky I have FiOS.

Attention all Time Warner Cable customers, we can breath a heavy sigh of relief. Time Warner Cable and Disney have reached a long-term agreement to keep the Disney-owned networks and stations (in some areas) on.

Link to story.

I mentioned this somewhere in the Porch. About time they reached an agreement. Without Disney, my little sister and my niece would go crazy.  :P

Also, Time Warner is the only cable company in the Imperial Valley. so if they didn't reach an agreement, I swear some of the JoBro/Miley fans here are gonna form a mob.

Your aunt lives in Memphis?
Yes, TWC was bought out by Comcast of Memphis, and now COM is basically crap. (As Curt says, it's Crapcast.)
