They both offer roughly the same things, so i really can't see what the benefit would be. ON the other hand, the last thing the cable/satellite TV industry needs is another big conglomo.  :hmm:

Not to mention that the two companies use completly different technology... You can't use a DTV dish with a Dish Network Recevier, and vice versa... They'd still have the same equipment, its not like they'd change their entire satellite fleet or user STB.

If that happens, I'm getting three digital-to-analog boxes and rabbit ears. Besides my contract with D* is almost up.

I don't think a merge will happen. D* will probably go back to Music Choice.

Update: I just recently heard on DBSTalk that DirecTV Access Mag announced that they are going to have Local on the 8s depending on the zip codes to where you live.
