im in siloam springs akransas and i still have the weather star xl i wish they would upgrade to the intellistar
i wonder when they will do that
-
I have Cox here in Pensacola, FL, and they upgraded to the IntelliSTAR right when it came out in March 2004.
-
I can't imagine why anyone would actually WANT the IS. If I had the XL I'd hope they WOULDN'T upgrade. :D
-
Yeah, believe us, you DO NOT want the IntelliSTAR. Your very lucky. BTW, I thought Cox had an agreement with TWC
to only use the IntelliSTAR platform, just as TimeWarner and Comcast do.
-
I had no idea cable companies could enter into such agreements. I thought they were always free to decide for themselves which STAR they preferred to use. :o

They are, but Comcast and Time Warner have agreements with TWC to only use IntelliSTARs. I thought Cox did too, but apparantly not.
-
You'd have to be carzy if you would want an XL to be replaced by an IntelliStar. :D
BTW, travisallen, would it be possible to get any screenshots and/or videos of your XL?

I *think* I remember reading that somewhere, but I'm not sure. I do know Cox upgraded my system rather quickly, as we got the IS sometime in early March 04 or late Feburary.
-
my weather star xl pics are uploaded there a little bit blurry though

Cool! Thanks for sharing! 8)

I'd love to have a WeatherStar XL! Does anyone know where else a WeatherStar XL, 4000 and/or Jr, is used today? Boy I hate the IS!Just one question, if Comcast had an agreement with TWC to use the IS then why do some areas such as Burlington, VT still have an XL? :-\
-
I'm waiting for DISH HD and the ability to see my LOCAL ON THE 8's with the DISH...heck, they can do it by ZIP CODE...c'mon it's 2007 for crying out loud! ;)

Because they are old Adelphia systems, and Adelphia used pretty much any STAR, depending on system. they just havent converted over a lot of it as of yet

The "Weather Capital of the World" (aka Punxsutawney, PA) still has the WeatherStar XL. We are serviced by Comcast, but we were serviced by Adelphia until October 2006. I am not sure who else around here (as in my area) has the WeatherStar XL. I know the town south of me, Indiana, is using the IntelliStar.
I am not expecting to be upgraded to the IntelliStar for quite a while. Adelphia was still using the WeatherStar 3000 until the year 2000 when we got the XL (we never had the WeatherStar 4000).
Of course I say that, then tomorrow I will probably see the IntelliStar. :P

That's interesting to hear. Thanks for the info!

We got it in April 2005 (when I had Cox). I remember when it first came on I was like, hmm...so that's the Intellistar. Nice. *click* :P

I think Cox may be available for me in the Santa Cruz area. Wonder if it has another STAR? Other than that, it's Comcast or Dish. :( We don't have many cable choices out here like everyone else does.
-
Same thing in Ventnor City, NJ. Its either COmcast, Dish or DirecTV. Verizon fios might come but hasn't been in our area so far. Comcast basic cable is 52.80$$, while Digital Cable with wxscan is 53.80! Which is better? Digital !

Cox most likely has the IS, because we got upgraded to the IS with Cox right when it came out. That may not be the same with all Cox headends, though.
-
Yeah, just like cox in Siloam Springs, AR. As mentioned earlier, they still have the XL.

You technically live in a big city, so that isn't surprising.

COx Communications still has the XL? Some of them have an Intellistar right?
-
Yes some cox headends still use the weatherstar XL but only for the smaller cities. The bigger cities are the ones that have the intellistar.
-
If it was Hayward, and if I had Cox, I would have XL right
Travis, do you have Cox?
-
Travis, do you have Cox?
OMFG! :wall: Read the topic title.

It's not funny Derek. I'll stay back on topic ok :)
-
It is funny IMO. You need to not just stay on topic, but also stop posting like there's some sort of quota.
-
Ok Gary! I will cooperate with you nicely ok
-
When? I come online just a moment ago and your STILL doing what I told you not to do. <_<
-
Uhh...say what?
-
I bet I have intelliSTAR in bellsouth cable in the beginning of the first version of intelliSTAR.
:rofl2:
Why is that funny?

This is what I (barely) got out of that:
"I bet I've had the IntelliSTAR with BellSouth Cable since the first version of the IS."
Not sure why that ROFL smiley is there, though.
-
maybe he's joking?
-
As for Cox, Circus Circus Las Vegas has Cox so actually I think they might have the XL.. but worse of all, they don't carry TWC, or CNN or MSNBC
-
Las Vegas has Cox cable?? I think they would have IS as Las Vegas is a big city
