My cable modem is dying. Internet has been going out frequently over the past week. :censored:
Same here. I sometimes have to reset mine and unplug/replug it countless times to get it to work.

I have never had that problem with a cable modem. I've had it several times with DSL modems, but never with a cable modem.

I might be able to help you diagnose this problem... contact me in private or on AIM and I can help you out with this... depending on the problem you may have to call comcast to come out...

Well I'm actually going to applaud Comcast today. They came out very quickly and gave us a speedy new modem. It's a Scientific Atlanta, which is kind of weird.

My dad also asked if they had updated the HD cable box since we got ours in 2006, and the guy said yes, and offered to upgrade ours for no charge.

Happy. :twothumbs:

Yeah, actually, every time they've come out, they've always done a really good job or threw in something extra.

Wow, wish my Cherry Hill, NJ headend was like that! The people there are  :censored: 's and give no useful support when my modem (an RCA) is malfunctioning. It has to be my modem since no one else seems to have problems connecting.

My original modem was an RCA. I guess it had a pretty good run, as it was the original modem we got in September 2004, when we first switched from Dial-Up to Cable.

I guess they are now using Scientific Atlanta for Cable Modems. They still use Motorola cable boxes though, and the new ones are pretty fancy looking.

We bought our cable modem (a Motorola) back in 2003 when we first got cable internet from Suscom. Not sure what kind of modems Comcast uses around here.

They were marvelous to detect my problem and fix everything linked to it -- the wire that splits into my house, the modem itself, etc... I have a feeling that either your modem is failing, your signal levels aren't where they should be, your SNR levels aren't where they should be, or any of all combinations of the 3 scenarios. In my case the modem and SNR (signal to noise ratio) were the problem and all is fixed, all be it I'm a high tech user who knows how to break into their modem's config to get these readings, but still. I would call the 1800COMCAST number before 6pm and speak to a rep so they can send a tech out to test your line.

Comcast is removing 4 more channels from the analog lineup here in Bensalem effective October 20.

They're offering free converter boxes so I might as well get one.
