Ugh. It seems that whenever a thunderstorm moves through, our Comcast internet goes down for nearly a day, no matter how strong the thunderstorm is. This didn't always happen before. maybe just once or twice a year when both the internet and TV were to be down. Now it seems its just the internet that goes down, and much more often than ever before. I think I want to switch to FiOS internet (but NOT the inconvenient FiOS TV), as Comcast would probably not understand what I am saying when I tell them my internet has been down a lot.

What's inconvenient about FiOS TV?  :ermm:

Lack of headends, thus lack of WeatherStar units. There's only one headend for Massachusetts, meaning that people in the western part of the state would get forecasts for Boston, whose conditions can be far different than the western part. I believe there's also only one headend for southern California, and the conditions from location to location can be even more different there, particularly in the higher elevations. It's not as bad here as I live about 20-30 miles from Philadelphia, but I still can have temperatures 5-10 degrees cooler than the city, and I would have a severe weather warning for a county that is far from where I live.

In addition, since FiOS headends cover a large area, Weatherscan has so much city forecast segments that some don't have room for lifestyles segments, and also it would take awhile for you to receive the forecast for your location.

If ANYONE here can tell me how to tune channel 257 on standard cable without a cable box, I will send you 5 cents.

You can't... Standard analog cable is only capable of channels up to 125, IIRC.

Okay, now that my blood pressure is back down...I was in contact with those a-holes at Comcast over which channel Big Ten Network will be on starting this Friday.  It is on channel 257, on "expanded basic" services.  Except you can't get the channel without a box (which we don't have and technically not supposed to need, based on the contract).  Couldn't get that through to the rep.  Looks like on Friday I will be complaining on the phone to someone.....

I retract everything I said in the last two posts, except for the Comcast chat reps being complete ditzes.  The channel will be on 74, phew.

Recently in my area, they removed the National Geographic Channel (Comcast cable channel 64) off of our basic cable line-up. They still have the channel at lease, but its now a digital-only channel and we only have one digital cable box. They moved it to digital cable channel channel 450 and we would have to pay extra. They even did the same thing to ESPNews.

As for the old channel location for NatGeo, they replaced it with the Big Ten Network.  I rather watch pro sports.

Also, Comcast still hasn't added both Boomerang and WeatherScan to our channel line-up! I want those two channels so bad! I even tried asking Comcast to add Boomerang and WeatherScan, but they still haven't responded. I sent a E-Mail to them 10 times already, but still no response!

I'm also upset that Comcast doen't want to air some of my St. Louis Cardinals baseball games that's aired on FSN Midwest. I'm from the midwest and I'm a Cardinals fan. I told about the problem to Comcast and here's what they responded:

Quote
Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting Comcast Cable. We apologize for any
inconvenience. We carry about 140 Cardinals games (out of 162) in
Central Illinois, among FSN Midwest, the FOX broadcast network, ESPN,
and local broadcast channels that are part of the Cardinals TV network.
There are another 20 games that FSN Midwest carries that we do not
receive, because FSN Midwest charges extra for these games.

We will forward your feedback and suggestion to our marketing department
for future review.

Thank you for choosing Comcast.

Sincerely,

Demetria
Comcast Customer Care Specialist

Not only that, but they have only have less than 38 HD channels too. In other words, there's no signs of TWC HD anywhere or any of my other favorite channels that are in HD.
Again, I tired of Comcast! Insight Communications was alot better, but DirecTV still beats cable TV (even for both Insight and Comcast)!
Classic TWC, Weatherscan, legacy WeatherSTARs, and classic Prevue/TV Guide fan.

A Rare Positive story. My grandma gets comcast from the Finleyville PA, division. She told me that they are nice to her over the phone. She also told me that they are out and get the problems fixed.
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Comcast of Bensalem/Lower Bucks does a much better job of satisfying the area than Cherry Hill's. The internet rarely ever goes down here and I can't recall the last time we had a cable outage.
