Maybe I should consider turning off my modem during the night. Would that lower the cost? I have it on almost 24/7.

Having the modem on is not what you pay for. You pay for using the service each month. it is a flat fee, which means no matter how much or little you use it the amount is the same. You could do the following to lower the cost of your cable bill:

-Get rid of movie channels. I did this myself years ago because I watched maybe one or two movies a month, which certainly doesn't justify the cost.

-Consider downgrading to a smaller package. If you have the premium package, but don't even watch half the channels, whats the point?

-Consider getting rid of any other extras or premiums you may have, especially if you don't use them, or use them seldomly.

Well, my mom watches HBO among other movie channels all the time, so I guess I won't be able to remove any of the packages.

I have their "digital preferred" package, with one premium (HBO) and one cable box. The other two TV's have expanded basic. I have no HD channels. My computer says my internet connection speed is 100 Mbps.

Yeah, that just means you have a 10/100 mbps ethernet card, you actual internet speed is different from that.

I'm so glad Comcast isn't in my area, I have two choices for cable, Buckeye Cable and TimeWarner, I have buckeye.

We all know Comcast has traffic shaping but have you heard of their new voice shaping feature where they degrade your voice if you talk too long, or their video shaping service where they cut off half your channels when you watch TV too long.  :shades:
