The digital transition occured in Philly's N&W suburbs last fall, but it's not expected to occur here anytime soon, AFAIK.

still waiting for my new updated paper here's a tidbit i got from my friend

Quote
In addition to the faster Internet speeds and explosion of HD choices, the digital network enhancement, provided Comcast the opportunity to relaunch WBZ HD and WHDH HD in the Bristol County communities of Attleboro, Easton, Mansfield, North Attleboro, Norton, Raynham, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Somerset, Swansea and Taunton today.  The HD signals from those Boston broadcasters will return in Acushnet, Berkley, Dartmouth, Dighton, Fairhaven, Fall River, Freetown, New Bedford and Dighton upon the completion of the digital network enhancement in those communities in April.  WCVB HD, WGBH HD and WSBK HD remained on the lineup in Bristol County communities.  Comcast has always provided all of the Boston broadcasters in standard definition within Bristol County.

so my area "Fall River" is transitioning in February/March/April which means the second wave in march i will get TWC HD finally from comcast!

Does anyone have anything good to say about Comcast? :bleh:  If anything, you've all convinced me to stay away from them when I move and have to consider new services someday.

The quality depends on where you live, regardless of provider.  I've had no problems with Comcast here (Beltway Region - Prince George's County, MD, and Charles County, MD before that).  However, I have noticed one thing - the problems a cable proivider has in an area are directly proportional to the amount of bad weather they have (and until the big blizzards, this area has been pretty tame from a weather standpoint over the past few years).

As I stated in another thread, if you have a problem, get a Twitter account and tweet your complaint with a hashtag of #Comcast and some VERY good reps will help you (speaking from two experiences, with @ComcastBill and @ComcastBonnie).  Heck, they helped Ozzie Guillen today!

Neat update from AVS Forum - Comcast's next step in their video delivery is a massive channel reorganization effort.

Honestly, considering Comcast's lineup (at least where I live) seems so random that it was put together by a drunk monkey, I think this channel reorganization is long overdue.  We'll get used to it soon enough.

Really? Ours is quite organized to me. 20's is generally public /educational/government access, 30's has sports and movie networks, low-40's has news, mid-upper 40s has children networks, 50's has MTV and all of that. But, like they say... it's Crapcast  :D

Oh, ours is very different.  In the mid 1990s there was a major channel lineup change (back in the days of MediaOne, if not Continental Cablevision), but there are still remnants of the higgeldy-piggeldy channel assignments from the 1980s that are still sticking around.  Even the 1990s lineup change didn't do all that much in putting things into order.  As if the analogue lineup isn't bad enough, the digital lineup, while pretending to be divided into categories based on the hundreds number, is still a complete disaster.  Nothing makes sense.  Why is C-SPAN 1, for example, 44, but C-SPAN 2 and 3 are in the 200s, separated by, of all things, ESPN Classics?!

BTW, The Weather Channel is 47 (used to be 48 before the 1990s change).  WeatherScan is 245.  The Weather Channel HD is 847, but that channel used to be just a repeat of WeatherScan (SD) until the TWC HD feed finally made its way here.  (Not having an HD TV set, I can't watch it.)  Actually, our digital line up contains a LOT of duplicated (and a couple triplicated!) channels!  :dunno:

Billerica's lineup is somewhat different than yours, but we've got 2 (or 3?) MSNBCs and 2 Weatherscans.  Talk about wasted bandwidth!

This is the same model as my parents' first cable box from back in the day.  They still have it, as a matter of fact, sitting in a box in some closet.  I remember thinking the first time I saw it (other than way back in my youth when it was still in use) - "what the heck is this?!"

When I had US Cable back in Colorado (Woodland Park, near Colorado Springs), they gave us 2 ancient Pioneer set top boxes. they were the oddest things, but hey, they had a digital clock
