Comcast digital migration question

Supposedly, Comcast is moving their expanded basic lineup to all digital within the next two months here in Bucks County (including TWC, which will be gone on September 1). I have a question though, would I be able to still view these channels with my digital tuner, or would I still have to hook that up to their DTA's as well?

I only think when they say "digital cable on your tuner", I only think they mean ClearQAM.

I think you still can its Dependant on what the tuner picks up, i hope TWC is one of those channels.

Well.. hopefully I'll still get Weatherscan on channel 120 with the DTA's, or you won't be seeing clips for awhile.

Well, what I don't understand is that Comcast is increasing top internet speeds from 20 mbps to 50 mbps. I have yet to see that happen, as the internet at both my mom's and dad's is no faster than it always has been.

Well, this is what I got from DSL reports 

The dtas cannot tune weatherscan on ch 120. It is an analog channel and is tunable with any cable-ready TV/VCR that goes up that high. The digital version of weatherscan is encrypted, and not viewable by dtas, only cable boxes. It's kinda neat to see an old TV tune ch 120, on some remotes you have to hit the elusive "100+" button, haha.

The reason they have it on ch 120 is for testing. Ch 120 is around 770mhz, well past the 750mhz spec equipment that is on our system. The picture quality is very good for that high a channel.

Looks like I'll need to get a cable box to receive Weatherscan if I still want it, which I do. I can't live without after having it on basic for more than eight years.

Well, at least you have that option Mike. When I turn my cable boxes to channel 101, it takes me right to 102

Well, according to this, TWC is available on channel 9 on ClearQAM digital cable, but I don't see the channel on my digital tuner after doing a scan. Can anyone help me with this?

Have you tried punching in the physical number (79-6)?  Also, is this a PC tuner or one of those Comcast tuning boxes?

It's a PC digital tuner. How do I tune a physical channel number like that?

It's an HP tuner, and I have HP MediaSmart TV and Windows Media Center to watch TV with it.

comcast got there way with fcc so likey you will need a DTA, cable box, or cable card to get any thing other then OTA.

Those speeds are for the fastest internet plan. Do they have that? Cable speeds up to 50mbps are associated with DOCSIS 3.0. That actually requires a new modem I think

I'll have to look into that then. I sure hope this plan of which you speak is no more expensive. We are paying enough as it is.
