Banned for no as being in the NWS classifies me as an "excepted" government employee as I play a role in protecting life and property for this country (the mission of the NWS), so my job is critical enough that I still must go to work as normal although I won't get paid for the time worked during the shutdown until the whole government reopens (hence why I said I'm working on IOUs now, and also any paid leave is cancelled as well during the shutdown).
