Why is there a banner about the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami?

Why is there a banner about the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami?

My guess would be because it's receiving major coverage on TWC at the moment.

Exactly.

Think of it like a storm alert banner or whenever TWC goes into a mode when everything is red.  We've done them over the last year or so for hurricanes that pose a serious threat and for significant winter storms.

That and its a very important issue going on. It seems appropriate and I appreciate Andy for putting it together for us :)
