I usually check new posts by click on the "Show unread posts since last visit" option everytime I visit here. I checked the section and it says no unread posts but during that time there were actually new posts. Just now I went back to the main board and it showed a new unread post in the PBS before I clicked on that section but that didnt show up in the unread posts feature.
Also posts in certain topics seemed to be "missed". Like it'll show the most recent post in the topic ex: "Dec 08 list starts" and I read all the new posts above then another post that was posted previously doesn't appear for me. But it appears if I read the entire topic.
It may sound confusing but you should get the idea of what I'm trying to say. How come it's not working at times? Is it a bug or a flaw in the software? I prefer the Show Unread Posts since last visit option IMO because it shows all the topics in one page, rather than having to browse board to board here for new posts.

It doesn't happen all the time, but it occurs once daily during the 3-4 times I usually log in here.

I have noticed that if you log onto a different computer or clear your cache that your computer will forget the newer topics. Im not sure this is exactly a problem with the forum itself.

That's how cookies actually work unfortunately. That's not something Gary or anyone can fix other than SMF, if they want to fix the way they do PHP sessions, which are a PAIN IN THE :censored: ASS to work with.

it doesn't make a difference... if you log onto another computer without first logging out of the first one, it's like clearing your cookies... it's a hard concept to explain :/ sorry

I'm only using one computer to log into TWCT. Just again it stopped working earlier. :wacko:

I dont use a proxy. That's what it says for me in IE.
