Title: Vortex2: The Great Tornado Hunt on TWC
Post by: Anistorm on May 11, 2009, 03:20:19 PM: So, yesterday (May 10), Vortex2 began. Mike Bettes is among many of the crewmembers of largest tornado-chasing project since Vortex1. The chase will run from May 10-June 13. Mike will be tweeting from his TORANDOHUNT (http://twitter.com/TORNADOHUNT) twitter, and streaming live from 12-2 PM EDT on the TWC Vortex2 website (http://www.weather.com/tv/programs/Vortex.html). Just click on the logo and you're there.

According to Mike's twitter today and a briefing, today there was "no supercell play". Tuesday could be better, but Wednesday seems a lot better for severe weather. So we'll look out for that.

Also, whenever some "pop-up tornado" pops up, Mike will try to get it on stream and/or on the air.

Guess they are trying to get the people who are on lunch. Still bad timing if you ask me. I was home early today but thats about the only day Im going to see it.

Yeah I know...the only time I can catch the stream is on Friday (Fraterday). It's from 9-11 my time and I am in college at that time (getting in college, and in class)

Yea. Ive sorta thought of this as the end of A&B. They still wont say though if they are breaking up the show but I would think they would :thinking:

The time of day for the Vortex 2 stream makes it almost impossible for me to watch as I'm busy with work and errands. :no:

Also, he needs to be careful when he drinks water because he dropped his water bottle when he was talking.
And, there is gonna be severe weather today, but they might not make it to the "greatest threat".

Funny Vortex2 is kinda turning into a flop. Forbes said likely wont be much activity for at least 10 days.

I don't think May has been active because were not in a La Nina pattern anymore, the pattern is neutral and is expected to go into a El Nino pattern by Fall, which would mean a possible slower Severe Weather and Hurricane Season than last year.

It's about time that Vortex 2 finally got one, and they were able to see the full evolution of the tornado. :yes:

Thanks Ana! I now have just about everything from the live coverage of the tornado itself now uploaded. I hope to trim a clip with later analysis of the tornado from further on in the evening.

During V2's last day, TWC will premiere special called TORNADO STRIKE. Its a documentary of that one tornado they got to intercept last weekend. You can catch it Tomorrow @ 2:30 PM and 8:30 PM ET.
